About this listen

The perfect escape....

Gabrielle Adams has it all - brains, beauty, a handsome fiancé and a dream job in publishing.

Until, one day, everything changes.

The ‘Underground Killer’ takes his victims when they least expect it: standing on the edge of a busy Tube platform, as they wait for a train to arrive through the murky underground tunnels of London.

Gabrielle soon learns that being a survivor is harder than being a victim, and she struggles to return to her old life. Desperate to break free from endless nightmares, she snatches up an opportunity to run a tiny bookshop in a picturesque cove in rural Cornwall.

She thinks she’s found the perfect escape, but has she swapped one nightmare for another?

Suspense and mystery are peppered with romance and humour in this fast-paced thriller, set amidst the spectacular Cornish landscape.

Perfect quick listen

Wanted a quick and free listen, was apprehensive with it being free but it didn’t disappoint. Well written, I thought the storyline would be predictable but the writer certainly led you to believe it was, and then completely catches you off guard. Smashed through this on a day off sick.

Average holiday read

Ok read for traveling as easy to pick up. Locations cosy but characters and plot predictable. Slightly dull /slow in parts.

Not L J Ross' best

I have thoroughly enjoyed every other L J Ross book I have listened to, they have always been riveting and intriguing. However, this book is so lightweight and uninteresting that it feels as though it might have been written to fill some quota or fulfil a contract and not out of love for the subject. It won't put me off Ross though.
There are problems with the audio too. It continually changes volume, going quieter and quieter, and then back to the set volume. Highly irritating if you are used to using the timer which turns the story off by slowly lowering the volume. I must have reached for my phone about ten times when the volume fell ;-)

A Bit Mills And Boone

An ok but syrupy tale more suitable to People's Friend magazine. Good for that genre but not sure why Audible recommended it to me

Wild card

Not my usual listen but i figured I'd give it a go and i don't regret it at all. I can't lie when i say i thought i expected the twists but i really did not. And this was amazingly narrated by Clare Corbett, she really does do this book justice.
