About this listen

The New York Times best-selling biography of an American comedy legend.

After three years of sobriety, Chris Farley's life was at its creative peak until a string of professional disappointments chased him back to drugs and alcohol. He fought hard against them, but it was a fight he would lose in December 1997. Farley's fans immediately drew parallels between his death and that of his idol, John Belushi. Without looking deeper, however, many failed to see that Farley was much more than just another Hollywood drug overdose. In this officially authorized oral history, Farley's friends and family remember his work and life. Along the way, they tell a remarkable story of boundless energy, determination, and laughter that could only keep the demons at bay for so long.

Critic reviews

“the newly released audiobook edition of The Chris Farley Show, an oral biography co-edited by Farley’s brother Tom and journalist Tanner Colby, is full of reminders of how close he had already come to a mid-career breakthrough. ( Salon)

Such sadness.

Taking this book on, you know the outcome. It’s still so shocking when it happens!! You want to reach in and pull Chris out! I’m 34 and it saddens and angers me that I’ve outlived his time on earth. I’d have loved to have known him. My children now watch him and he lives on in my generation and the next.

Tragic

For a man who helped others smile, its a shame he couldn't help himself.
