About this listen
St Angelus runs like a family: the workers take care of their own - a lesson the mysterious new assistant matron, Miss Van Gilder, is about to learn the hard way.
Little Joe has had trouble breathing but the doctors don’t take his sister Lily’s concerns seriously, least of all Miss Van Gilder. The nurses of Lovely Lane have a secret which is dividing their close knit group and when Nurse Pammy Tanner once again breaks the rules, her actions threaten them all.

As good as the first book
Excellent continuation of the story. New characters are introduced and focused on but old faces are cleverly weaved into the story to keep you updated on their continuing story.
Fab narration brings the story alive - what an array of accents and voices!
Bought the next book straight away.

A lovely story
The characters are so well drawn that I feel as though I have known them. The saddest part of the story reduced me to tears. A lovely story that was very well told.

As Good As The First
Nadine Dorries has maintained her very gentle and caring writing style in this second book of The Angel series. The four main characters are still there along with new previously undisclosed storylines.
Beautifully narrated by Georgi Maguire. If you read the first book in this series you will want to read this second great read.

Heartwarming, heartbreaking.
Nadine Dorries and Georgia Macguire draw you expertly into the heart of the community of the slums of Liverpool after the war. The characters are warm, caring, loving - sharing what little they have with those in need.
The hospital community, by contrast, on the surface is much more regimented and disciplined - but underneath beats a warm, caring, loving heart.
This story, told through the eyes of Lily and her family, the gentle nurses, the affluent, arrogant Amy and the lovely Lockey tells of loyalty, love and loss. On more than one occasion, I could not stop the tears from rolling down my face, I was there with them all.
The intricate, but beautiful 'love dances' that grew and developed throughout the story were sweet and - for the most part - innocent. The underlying deceit weaving its way through the story, kept me asking myself where this was going - didn't expect that!!
I was so disappointed when I finished this book as I thought it would be a long time until the next one comes out. Imagine my excitement when looking through audible for another of Nadine's books (I have 'read' them all), to find that The Mothers of Lovely Lane is out. Needless to say, I have already downloaded it - can't wait 🤗.

GOOD BOOK 👍
I thought that this book was only about nurses, and when I started reading it I was quite confused. When I saw the title again, I realized it was about Children of Lovely Lane. I think it should have a different cover. Very sad at times, funny and happy at others. I like Georgia Maguire's voice and did a good job with most of the accents. To me it seemed like lots of stories In one with no link.
