Summary

Sarah is worried. More than just worried. Sarah is terrified. Her young daughter, Emma, hasn't been acting herself lately, and it's getting harder and harder to keep the whole thing under wraps. Especially when Nadine, the nosy neighbor from next door, is starting to suspect something and Sarah's sister, Jess, just shows up unexpectedly, making everything even more difficult for Sarah. If there is one thing that Sarah does understand about Emma, one thing that she is absolutely sure of, it's that she loves her more than words could ever say and that she would do anything to protect her child. Will her mother's love be enough to save her little girl, and will she be able to figure out what happened to her precious child before it's too late to bring her back?

A wild ride!

I was just introduced to Ms. Van Atta's books and, WOW, this won't be the last I read from this talented writer! I enjoyed this book in audiobook format and the narrator does a great job!
The Child opens with a stiff kick to the gut - the horror vividly described down to every grisly detail. The first few chapters are a tough read, but once you push through the storytelling shines!
As you move through the book you get to know the amazing characters and "see" their struggles, joys and their strength. You witness the pure love of a mother who will do anything to protect her child.
The ending will leave you in tears. Equal parts horror and supernatural thriller, with just a touch of romance, The Child is a book you won't be able to put down. Or soon forget!

A quirky fun horror book

A thoroughly enjoyable read. I loved the humour infused throughout, especially with such a serious subject. 100% recommend if you enjoy creepy children and gore, plus a heartfelt story.
