Summary

Charles Ward, even as a child, had always wandered the streets of ancient Providence, drawn inexorably to its domes and spires, its hills and homes, its history and its haunts. His antiquarian habits were always just so: an innocent preoccupation with the city and its wonders. Yet, when the discovery of a shadowy ancestor exposes an eldritch malevolence long thought to be contained, Charles must resist the dark grip of his fascination, before it consumes him, and his world, completely.

Please enjoy this new reading of a rare full-length tale from H. P. Lovecraft, the original master of the cosmic macabre, dedicated to the 125th Anniversary of his birth.

Excellently written and narrated

It will start a bit slowly, but the attention to detail, the progression and the precise emotional tone will make other good books seem rushed. It was great overall and it ended on a climax, with sufficient information for the listener.
To anyone interested in dark mystery, I will wholeheartedly recommend this audiobook. Calling it horror does it a disservice. It's intent is not to scare or to shock, but to intrigue through dark implications.

Excellent performance.

And a great story too. Really enjoyed this rendering of a classic Lovecraft tale. I can highly recommend this to all.

lovecraft made easy

I often find reading lovecraft rather difficult due to his style and the sheer amount of information he relays through his protagonists. In this well voiced audio version it breaks down that wall and I no longer feel I am missing out on this once underrated author
