Bronte brilliance

Loved every minute of it and discovered Bronte books I had never known. The voice dramatisations were so well matched to the characters they were portraying.

Brought the Brontes to life

I've never been able to stick with a Bronte book. My mind wonders off and I get bored before the end of the first chapters - except Jane Eyre. I managed that one once.

This audiobook brought to life stories I've been wishing I could enjoy for years. Every aspect was thoroughly enjoyable and I've listened to a couple of the stories more than once. It's well worth 5 stars all round.

Good adaptations

On the whole these were good adaptations and stayed fairly faithful to the books. The spirit and style of the Bronte sisters was still there. Thankfully they were not changed out of recognition like TV period dramas so often are these days!!

It would have been better if they had been grouped with each authors works together and in the order they wrote them so that one could appreciate their development and individual writing styles.
Named chapter headings would make navigating the different books easier.

Also the fact they were short radio episodes meant that the story line was quite bumpy as you were constantly getting a resume and music introductions. It would be a much better listen if these had been edited out so the story flowed smoothly.

I did struggle to hear everything when either the actors dropped their voices or the music/sound effects were too much. This is often a serious barrier to enjoying radio drama.

Loved it.

I loved these plays. The actors were well chosen and adaptations were brilliantly done. Would recommend.

simply sublime

Loveed every second and so sad once it was over. The adaptations took me ti another place where time passed me by, I spent my afternoons sewing and listening to the stories during lockdown due to Covid-19.

I hadn't realised Rachel Joyce was author of Harold Fry, another book I recently listened to which transported me to a happy place I bought the follow up with Queenie. thank you all so much for the joy you have given me this passed week. x

Well dramatised versions

Loved this compilation- the dramatisation was excellent and captured the stories well, despite being shortened. Only wish the chapter headings were clearer, as difficult to know which story you are on!
