About this listen
Duet narration by Lacy Laurel and Teddy Hamilton.
She was his first love, his first heartbreak, and his only regret.
Zane Windsor always loved the way Celeste Harrison’s eyes light up when he infuriates her. It just took him years to realize that what he felt for his childhood rival wasn’t hatred.
When they begin working for their family businesses, competing on a larger scale than ever before, he decides he wants it all with her — and what Zane Windsor wants, he gets.
Zane and Celeste discover just how thin the line between love and hate truly is, falling harder than either of them thought possible...
…until an unexpected tragedy leaves them wondering if any of it was ever real at all.
Led by a desire for revenge, Zane brings Celeste’s company to the brink of bankruptcy, leaving both of their grandparents no choice but to intervene.
The Windsors and Harrisons agree to a merger — on one condition: Zane and Celeste must marry each other.

So many tears!!
I absolutely loved this book. I originally read it and cried then, but listening to the recording and hearing the angst and heartbreak made me cry again... more than reading the story. Love the Windsor series and the connection between the past books and future books. The journey Zane and Celest go through and the mistrust they have to repair tore me up.
Can't wait for Lex's love story and Sierra's and to see the past interactions in previous books come full circle.

Weakest link
To me this is the weakest link in the series. I have enjoyed every other book but this one had far too much angst for my taste.
Teddy Hamilton is always a joy to listen to - enough said. However the female narration was absolutely grim, she was either crying or whining about something for 75% of the book.
I have left this review after listening to the book for a second time as I didn’t want to add a negative to a series I have otherwise enjoyed. I can honestly say you can skip this book and move into the next and you won’t have missed anything.

DISAPPOINTING
The AMAZING Teddy Hamilton never disappoints, he was superb as always. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Lacy Laurel, whose voice was too nasally and whiny for a Lead part. The same facial expression you get when you hear nails on a chalkboard, is the same facial expression I had whenever she was narrating the intimate scenes. This was the longest book in the series (15hrs 45mins) and it was pure torture, thanks to Lacy Laurel. I tried everything to make the experience less torturous, like speeding up the narration when she spoke. I’m going to be very vigilant in the future, because I do not ever want to hear that voice again. All the other female narrator of this series have been great so far, but this book was the most disappointing. I truly wish Teddy had narrated the whole book to be honest. Whose “brilliant idea” was it to pair one of the best narrators with the absolute worst??

DNF
Unfortunately I have had to DNF the audiobook for this very early on as the female narrator sounds robotic to me. She sounds what I would imagine a AI generated voice/narration would sound like and that is only highlighted for me when you hear her alongside Teddy. I will pick this book up via KU to read in the future but unfortunately the audiobook isn't going to work for me.
