About this listen

He loves you.

He loves you not.

Amy is fiercely independent, with a high-powered career, a flat of her own and tight-knit friendships. But as she approaches her 30th birthday, she can’t help but rue the one thing she doesn’t have—a relationship.

When Amy comes around following a serious fall, she doesn’t remember anything from the last six months. Not even the upcoming skiing holiday at her aunt’s luxurious chalet in Val d’Isère with her mum and best friends to celebrate her birthday. And she certainly doesn’t remember being swept off her feet by the handsome Dr Jack Stewart....

Jack is the full package—charming, caring and devoted to Amy. Everyone is smitten with him, but as the week goes on, Amy begins to find Jack’s presence chilling. Is her broken mind playing tricks? Or is the perfect boyfriend really too good to be true?

For fans of The Chalet and The Hunting Party, The Boyfriend is a twisting anti-love story that will keep you guessing at every turn, by Michelle Frances, author of the number one best-selling sensation The Girlfriend.

Loved it

I was fascinated by the characters and the plot! I would definitely recommend this book even if you are not a Michelle France's fan. Once read never forgotten and the door opens to the rest of the series.😋

Underwhelming

This story had the potential of being gripping and suspenseful but ended up being contrived and weak. The plot was predictable and some of the characters including the protagonist, were grey.

Jan in Portugal

I was disappointed with this story after loving ‘The Girlfriend ‘ and ‘The Temp’. It was rather long and drawn out and I’m hoping it doesn’t go into a book 2 ! It just didn’t get exciting enough for me but the narrator was brilliant.

Not as good as her other books

The author is one of my favourite writers of contemporary fiction. Alas, this was not in the same league as her previous books. There were holes (relating to basic technology i.e google) in the plot and it took a while to move. It was as though we were stuck in the chalet along with the characters.
Overall I enjoyed it.
Her other books “The Girlfriend” and “The Temp” are by far superior. I recommend them highly.

bad ending,

the one fellow being 2 I thought was stupid, who wouldn't catch that on, unless you were blind. No disappointment with this story, will avoid her books in future.

Preposterous

The plot is preposterous.
Spoiler alert:-
The novel is billed as ‘anti - boyfriend’ it’s not! Yes the ‘boyfriend’ is a ‘baddie’ BUT actually the female characters are stereotypical tropes and far more worrying than the guy!!!
I was annoyed and disappointed that a female author chose to portray the main character’s two female best friends and her mother as enthrall to a man they’d all just met; repeatedly believing him rather than their friend/daughter. If I was so treated by my friends and mum (& also drugged by them) I’d ghost them and get therapy as clearly (with or without a head injury) I’d need to make better choices in my life.
Please can writer’s start writing about strong women with supportive friends and family, and not this drivel.
The narrator gives a good performance, but don’t waste your credit.

Giving up

Unfortunately I’m giving up on this audiobook. Storyline is so far fetched and any friend or family member would have called the police instantly
