About this listen
Fake boyfriends are hard work. When 16-year-old Bella’s dream boy asks her to be his fake girlfriend, Bella does the unthinkable. She says yes. The rules are simple. Two weeks, no kissing, and a few big lies. But things turn complicated when Bella begins to develop feelings for her fake boyfriend's brother.
Can Bella get out of her fake relationship and into a real one without exposing her lies or destroying her friendships? The Boyfriend Agreement is funny, emotional, and wonderfully romantic. It’s a tale of one girl's journey to help her friends and find love, all without losing herself.

Disney fans will love it!
Thank you to Lindsey Dorcus for providing me with this book in return for an honest review.
The Boyfriend agreement follows Bella, a high school misfit who has eyes for one of the popular boys in school. Jake. She’s delighted when one day he starts showing her attention and willingly agrees when he proposes that she becomes his fake girlfriend. Much to the disgust of his brother and her arch-nemesis, Cole.
Fake boyfriend romances are one of my favourite genres. Throw in a fairy tale retelling and I’m sold. Especially Beauty and the Beast, which I love.
Bella’s story is really enjoyable. Although I didn’t find Bella to be the most likable character, I really loved the character development with Cole, he had a really nice transition from cocky overachiever to cute and caring. Jake didn’t really have this as much but I didn’t think that it was really needed.
Narrator, Lindsey Dorcus was definitely a good pick for this book. She has a great range which is really beneficial to a book with so many characters. She kept it in a good flow and had a really easy voice to listen to.
The ‘retelling’ of the well known fairy tale was a bit of a let down to me. The didn’t really seem to be much of a ‘Beauty and the Beast’ element if you took out the main character’s name. There was a handsome character with a terrible personality (Jake) and an unexpected hero (Cole). But the rest of the story didn’t really seem to have the same flow.
I was a bit put off by the story when so many characters seemed like Disney rip offs. We had best friend Ariel, with red hair, six sisters, dad called Triton and love interest in Eric. We also had Jasmine and her cat Raja. a Mr Coggs and an Ursula and even a Romanov. I did like the story but the constant Disney nods actually made it feel like a bit of a fanfiction which ruined it a little for me.
I’d definitely recommend this to Disney fans who would like to see their favourite princesses in high school story situations, but it just wasn’t what I was expecting.

Typical Y/A novel with links to Disney
I hadnt heard anything about the author or novel before I started listening to it. I had no idea it was part of a large series of books but happy that it could be read as a standalone novel. This is a typical young adult storyline but apart from the Disney references in terms of names etc... nothing really stood out to me . Other people might enjoy it but I'm sorry to say it just wasnt for me . Bellas character annoyed me and infuriated me at times. I just found no connection . athough I read a lot of young adult books I just felt this was aimed at somebody much younger and not catering for the adult market. I was given this book by the author/narrator in return for an honest and unbiased review

Easy read & enjoyable
Bella was not a popular girl at high school, she kind of blended in, she had a crush on the popular boy Jake so when he asks her to be his fake girlfriend to basically make his ex jealous Bella’s high school life changes, she starts being popular, she thinks this will be fantastic, but it really isn’t especially when she starts falling for his brother Cole and the fake relationship starts to lose its shine. When listening to this I could not help but get a Disney vibe to it, the main character was called Bella, and her friends were called Ariel and Jasmine. Overall it was a good easy book but quite predictable. But I would read or listen to the rest of the series. Lindsey Dorcus did a great performance narrating this. I’ll definitely be looking out for more audios narrated by her.
