About this listen
WANTED: Nanny who will put up with an infuriatingly grumpy Irish billionaire.
If you throw an Irish billionaire out of a plane at 40,000 feet, would he fly?
That's the question I ask myself on our flight when Declan Bryne told me that it’d be “grand" if I could stop talking.
I can’t help it. I’m a nervous flyer.
But that should've been my sign to hit EJECT!
Because this is doomed to fail.
He’s a total grump.
He obviously doesn’t like me.
He's too distractingly gorgeous to be around for any length of time.
And he’s made it clear that as soon as he can find another nanny, I’m gone.
But this Minnesota girl is made of tough stuff. I know I can make it through one Irish summer with one sexy Irish curmudgeon.
At least I thought I could, until he became that much harder to resist.
The more I work for Declan the more I, unfortunately, realize the truth...
Declan hides an actual, beating heart behind his stormy, gruff demeanor.
The way he is around his adorable niece, Catie, is Hallmark-worthy.
And that accent.
That suave Irish brogue makes my insides melt.
The cardinal rule of being a nanny is to not get involved with the family.
To maintain a professional distance.
Sleeping with Declan would definitely cross that line.
Some rules are meant to be kept.
Others are meant to be shattered.
Exciting news! The Bossy One is even better than before, it was updated in October 2023!

Sweet story
I received this book free in exchange for an honest review and I’m glad to say I enjoyed it! The narrators were both very good at bringing Declan and Olivia to life, although the female narrator did seem to have a little bit of trouble maintaining an Irish accent for certain characters at times. It wasn’t too noticeable though and overall they both did a great job.
The story was very well written with likeable characters, it was a lovely bit of escapism! If you like a good “enemies to lovers” romance story then you’ll love this!

HIS NANNY
Declan and Olivia. He is a billionaire with his own jet. She is a fired nanny. They are both traveling coach. Him because his jet was being used her because well thats the way she flew. They meet after a comedy of caper event in the airport. Him, having to fly commercial and coach at that, his flight was slow which meant he may miss his connecting, went to buy food and the clerk kept his card because he was too rich to be fling commercial, now hes hungry to boot, people were blocking the walk way, hes insulted at the ticket gate because hes that rich snob Declan, then there was the paper comflict to rent another plane, finally collaped in his under sized seat, then a last second passenger arrives and is talking and tumbling down the isle with her bag, now he was getting a headache, she couldnt stuff her overstuffed bag in the overhead compartment across from him, she wouldnt accept his help he did anyway and she wouldnt quite talking and finally he said "your welcome", then he had her seat and the window seat was squeezier, she was a person that said every thought that came to mind, and talking and talking, then the argument, and the reason for the fight...his sister needs rehab and he is to look after his niece. He has a chat app he and a friend implemented and he had formed a friendship with a person @1000words and didnt know who they were so he pulled up app to chat, no answer, then the talking started again. She had been fired that day from being a live in nanny, she was seated next to an insufferable man on her flight, he insulted me, i fell asleep on him, I accidentally threw my wine in his face, it was the most unpleasant flight of my life. At home she remembered she didnt answer @DBCoder. She was being given another chance at her agency because she met all the specific criteria. Shs at the airport waiting to meet her new boss who needs help with his niece in Ireland over the summer. Yep you guessed it... She hears a man say, "you've got to be kidding me" and they are off... Cant say enough about this book and the author how she can make a long book seem short with the way she writes a story entwining all the events of the characters.

Fairly Realistic Relationship Tale
Obviously I don’t know anything about Billionaires (or Nannies for that matter), but this story seemed pretty realistic on a “boy meets girl”, reactionary level.
Olivia is a Nanny. She comes across as very opinionated and when we first meet her, we can totally relate to Declan’s reaction and opinion to her!
Declan is a man on a mission when we first meet him, which is why he’s “slumming it” in Economy Class.
It would be cute how they rub each other up the wrong way, grateful to never have to see each other again, meet up again and vow to endure each other (after all it’s only for 2 months), argue, leave, return, argue, leave, if it wasn’t all so very realistic!
This story is engaging and draws you in! She’s far more irritating than he is, but he IS Bossy and intractable, until he’s not…
A good story line about 2 vulnerable people, who are supposed to be the “responsible adults” for a 6 year old girl. What could possibly go right!
This was well narrated by Sean Masters and Suzanne Fortin, although I preferred his narration better than hers and felt that he could have carried the entire story on his own. He has a lovely voice.
I was given this audiobook free, for an honest review. I expected to enjoy it, but I didn’t realise how much I would do so.
Very relatable and engaging characters. The author has another title “The Grumpy One” which unfortunately is not (yet?) on audio. When it comes out, I’d definitely listen to it.

New favourite accent.
Sean and Suzanne gave a wonderful performance of this story.
They had several characters to portray of varying ages which they delivered with wonderful emotion and conviction.
I enjoyed the banter between Olivia and Declan for the most part. While they sizzled between the sheets, the way they often misconstrued each other's actions or intentions grated a bit.
I adored Catie's character and frequently found myself smiling at the relationship between her and Olivia.
Overall, the storyline kept me hooked and I very much enjoyed the Irish accent that Sean's performance gifted us.

A Chance meeting
Olivia and Declan have a chance meeting on a plane with instant dislike but when Declan needs a nanny for his niece he hires Olivia. Olivia hasn’t her own views on how a child should be taken care of and isn’t afraid to say even though she could lose her job. This book had elements of one of my favorite rom-com movies You’ve got mail love this book.

The Bossy One
The narrator, Sean Masters, was a nice touch with that Irish lilt that made Declan more charming. The plot had hints of You Got Mail and Love Actually. It took a bit to warm up to Olivia's character. The end was fine but I am not entirely sure if Declan's revelation of how he can make the relationship work was enough.

bossy
Loved the dual narration of Sean Masters and Suzanne T. Fortin, both perfect for the narration of this book.
Declan may be a self-made billionaire, whose life is not perfect. His sister has admitted herself to a rehab centre. Leaving her daughter Catie in Declan’s care for the summer. Meaning the need of a live-in nanny.
Olivia is a good nanny, who loves caring for kids . She is heading to Ireland to care for a child. Olivia is a nervous flyer, Making her talk more than usual. The passenger next to her is not impressed with her none stop talking. Problem is Declan who is going to be her new employer. .
Declan is a loving uncle, loving brother, businessman and bossy. He starts getting attractive to Olivia . Who drives him mad.
Amazing chemistry, humour, angst and steam.
