Craigie & co versus corrupt coppers!

Been a while since listening to book one in the series, but instantly reconnected with with DS Max Craigie (& darling pup Nutmeg - who doesn't love a spaniel/poodle cross?) and his covert investigative team.
Although The Blood Tide could be heard as a stand alone book, the plot does follow on closely from Dead Man's Grave. It's a roller coaster ride, a thrilling police procedural; there's cocaine smuggling, more police corruption, the search for identity of the high ranking officer k/a 'The Contact' & continuing presence of menacing criminal Tam Hardie, and importantly a very satisfactory conclusion.
Can't help but see similarities with the Scottish Police Standards Reassurance team and TV series Line of Duty's Anti-Corruption Unit 12 (AC-12) but that's fine.
The only crime left needing addressing is that author Neil Lancaster failed to mention Angus King's fabulous narration in his end Acknowledgements re the audio-book.
As the next book is already in my Audible Library, it's straight onto that.

Top Class Listen

I thoroughly enjoyed this second audiobook that followed on nicely from the first in the series. Great plot and characters with lots of twists and turns. Hats off to Angus King for a wonderful narration. He drew me to Neil’s books after enjoying his performances in JD Kirks’s DCI Logan series. I’m looking forward to book number three!

Fantastic book

The story had me hooked from the beginning. I loved the characters. Top marks has to go to the narrator Angus King who brought the story to life. There were times I was on the edge of my seat, the tension. I can’t wait to download the next book.
