About this listen

Jo Docherty and Hattie Contaldo have a vision - a holiday retreat in the heart of the Lake District exclusively for guests of 'a certain age' wishing to stimulate both mind and body with new creative experiences. One hotel refurbishment later and the Best Boomerville Hotel is open for business!

Perhaps not surprisingly, Boomerville attracts more than its fair share of eccentric clientele: there’s fun-loving Sir Henry Mulberry and his brother Hugo; an impoverished artist with more ego than talent; and a charming Porsche-driving James Bond lookalike as well as Kate Simmons, a woman who made her fortune from an Internet dating agency but still hasn’t found 'The One' herself.

Will the residents get more than they bargained for at Boomerville?

A real romp of a story

What fun! Story and narration matched perfectly to produce a charming tale of high jinks, some sadness, intrigue, laughter, and romance proving that the baby boomer generation haven't lost their touch!

Nothing happening.....

I've made myself listen to all of 5 chapters and so far nothing has happened. There are lots of new characters being introduced and we are told lots about them, but shown almost nothing through any action. After chapter 5 I jumped ahead a couple of chapters and listened a bit more, and it was just more of the same. I like a book to have a good storyline, and lots of character development shown through actions and dialogue, but this just doesn't do that, so it's not for me. The reader is fine considering what she's working with. I just can't force myself to listen to any more, which is quite rare for me, but it's just boring.
