About this listen

Are you keen for your child to engage in conversation with you in Shona? Are you struggling to find the time to sit down and teach them the language? Are you looking for your child’s first Shona audiobook that will give them the confidence to read, learn and speak in Shona? Then look no further.

This audiobook has been made to make Shona accessible to all. Shona is the native language of Zimbabwe. It is written by mums for Zimbabwean immigrant parents who are interested in teaching their children about their language and culture. Being bilingual for a lot of first-generation Zimbabwean immigrant children is slowly becoming uncommon due to a lack of resources for our children to learn the language. This audiobook aims to provide a starting point for learning the language. Shona is a fun language to learn, and is easier to learn when you can practice it by hearing the different pronunciations of words.

This is the perfect gift for your child, nephew, or niece in preparation for their next visit to Zimbabwe, or the next call to family back home. Give them the confidence they need to converse and learn more about their culture.

Inside this guide, you’ll find:

  • Beginner-level lessons from English to Shona.
  • Audio for pronunciation and learning practice.

Super proud of my lunguage

This is very excellent and well done for the beautiful reading Nikki. Just when you think you have lost all hope to teach our children our mother tongue then this beauty comes to save us. Very well appreciated and alongside our bible study and prayer before bed this has become our daily feed and my kids can’t wait to come back home and show off their Shona. At least I know I won’t be talking to myself acting like crazy coz everyone now knows basic Shona.

Keep up the good work on making sure our language lives forever . Looking forward to next books as I know we have a whole lot of culture to learn. This way of learning is effective as my children can listen to the audible book on their tablets and they can go anywhere and everywhere.

I could write a whole endless review but to finish this , I am excited to be forwarding it to my children’s school as the kids have been asked to do a small presentation of 10 minutes to teach others about their native lunguage.
