About this listen

A Complete Fantasy LitRPG series

With regenerative abilities, a badass tail and the potential to evolve his body, how could Art resist choosing a lizard man as his avatar? All’s well until he accidentally joins forces with an acid-spitting, enemy-consuming shadow-bound grub, causing his light-bound guild members turn against him, and a deadly fire mage to wage a vendetta against him.

Venturing through enchanted forests, into mage enclaves atop ice-capped mountains, through thief-ridden sewers and into ancient temples, Art must defeat the Legendary Beasts and claim their gems of power before his enemies can stop him.

With the odds stacked against him, it’s time for Art to undergo some dangerous and unique training.

It’s time for him to evolve!

one of the best

I love this series and I'm sad it's over, but I'm also happy that it's a complete story with a really satisfying ending. I listened to all 3 books one after the other, and the audio version is probably even better than the e-book because you get to hear the narrator sing all the songs!

Overall, I enjoyed that this has a non-human MC and they have beast companions. They both evolve as they level up, and each level-up felt like it brought something new. And they aren't OP, they have to solve problems with their brains as well as their fists (and tails).

Book 1 is a very nice intro. It's probably not my favourite of the 3, but it's still great. There's a lot of good humour and an interesting set-up/storyline as we begin to see the variety of creatures, players and environments available. The writing style is also really strong, and it's got some great boss battles.

Book 2 might be my favourite of the 3. There's a really cool team of villains to face off against and the MC gets an amazing ability that I'd love if I were playing the game. So cool how it's used differently throughout the book.

Book 3 is a massive leap in scale and risks. Not only in the in-game world but also in the real-life world. It is such a tense but satisfying ending, and I actually cried a bit!

For me this is one of the best LitRPG series I've read and listened to. If you like non-human MC's, well-written stories, and the occasional sea shanty or two, then give it a try. Warning: if you're scared of spiders, that might be a slight issue. The MC's teammate has a spider companion...! They're all really cool though, and even the beast companions have a lot of personality.

Great Audio of a wonderful series

This was a great series and makes the jump to audio with a song to remember, the series is a good progression from starter characters to almighty heroes as they face uncertainty for how they are. Works for all needs or those who weren't the average person.
For the narration then Baldree does his usual wonderful job across all the characters and even the signing parts.
Will be keeping an eye out for more great reads/audibles from Jones because of this one.
I requested this audio and have left an honest review of my thoughts for all.
