About this listen

The Mistborn trilogy has become a firm favourite with fantasy fans the world over. The imagination that Sanderson brought to the series, his skill at marshalling epic storylines and dramatic action and his ability to create vivid characters made him a natural choice to complete Robert Jordan's epic Wheel of Time sequence.

But with Mistborn, Sanderson has shown his bountiful talents in his own fiction. Now he returns to the series that made his name with a new story, building on the incredible success of The Alloy of Law. The new Mistborn books move the series into a richly imagined 19th-century analogue world with elements of the Wild West mixed with magic and science. It's a wonderful concoction from a master storyteller.

Sanderson has the knack of giving epic fantasy listeners exactly what they want. This ability has thrown him to the forefront of the genre, and this novel will take him to the next level.

Completely satisfying

What a joy to pick up another of Mr Sanderson's books and be completely satisfied!

I love the characters in this story. Steris really comes into her own in this book, while Wayne continues to focus on his hats, and Wax still breaks things in spectacular fashion. I've always found these stories entertaining - there is a very gentle, but consistent thread of humour through it all, and I find myself wearing a little smile as I listen.

It's a satisfying ending to this trilogy, but the ground work has been set for yet more adventure. A word from Brandon Sanderson as an appendix confirms this, and he intends to get to work on it once he's finished the final instalment of the Stormlight series. Looking forward to it!

For Stormlight fans - watch out for Hoid who makes a very brief appearance.

Narration is spot on, as always!

The Era 2 books keep getting progressively better

With a more engaging plot, better character exploration/arcs and overall worldbuilding of the Mistborn mythos compared to the previous ones.

Wax is still an aight protagonist

There's always another secret

I need to read the secret histories now. Not want, but need. The story in isolation was brilliant but there are so many questions I now have around the cosmere, the survivor and the whole of Scadrial. Can't wait for the next installment.

Great, as usual

What can I say? We got two books instead of one and it still isn't enough. Can't wait for the last in the series.

Best book so far in the Mistborn universe

I love all of Brandon Sanderson's books and particularly the Mistborn series however this book has surpassed all its predecessors! The characters have grown in each book but the relationships between them all in bands are brilliant. Wayne is potentially my favourite character of any book ever.

Brandon has really started to bring Mistborn more into the wider Cosmere story with bands and really throws in some interesting twists. Please buy this book and enjoy the great narration by Michael Kramer who really brings the characters to life.
