A good solution which doesn’t involve CIO
I have to admit I didn’t try all the solutions in the book but it gave me a firm plan and a place to start. I enjoyed listening to the book and after I’d finished it I felt in a place where I had a plan to get my baby out of my bed. When she was roughly 13months we started implementing some of these changes and by14months she was sleeping through the night in her own room. I took it at my own pace but I would definitely recommend listening to this if you are at a loss and don’t know where to start.

An absolute life saver for baby sleep
This book is essential reading . I have listened to it about 3 times now and go back regularly enough to check it still on track with what our baby needs . Before reading this book we had a total trial and error approach to our baby’s sleep . Now I feel I really understand her sleep needs in a holistic way - it’s not about trying one random “tip” at a time - I now know good sleep starts with good day time routines . I feel confident about how to respond to our baby when she is getting upset - how to spot and prevent over tiredness . It’s been a game changer for our family .

Calm, kind, achievable approach, brilliantly read.
The narrators voice drew me in instantly - calm, reassuring and non patronising unlike many other parenting books, this is an easy listen and SO useful in establishing day and night routines for better sleep. It’s still a work in progress but in 2 weeks my baby is achieving the regular recommended daytime naps is much less grumpy by day and is easier to settle at night. Brilliant so far!

Informative and worked!
This book is brilliant. Having flexibility in how you implement the changes is so empowering. I was desperate for my baby (third child) to sleep in her own cot without waking every hour. After 10 nights of the stay and support approach (which didn't feel cruel) she was sleeping with just one wake for an overnight feed. A month on and this is still the case and suits us both well. She is also napping in her cot in the daytime (previously only in the car or sling). Such a relief. I recommend this book 100%.

CIO sleeping training in disguise?
Having completed the book it feels like the “stay and support” method is actually unassisted sleep training disguised as “gentle sleep learning”. I would be concerned the method described in this book could be long term damaging to baby / child’s mental health into adulthood. Advising anyone reading to do their due diligence before doing what’s recommended in this book. So disappointed that this wasn’t the answer to helping baby sleep better but simply another potentially damaging sleep training method.

Dry, repetitive reference book not suited to audio
This book is full of great information, but is wholly unsuitable to have been converted into audible format. I am honestly amazed that editors/funders approved it!
As a written reference book to keep at hand while you go through the process of dealing with sleep issues, absolutely spot on. But when narrated and listened to cover-to-cover, it just does not work. There is a high degree of repetition, numerous lists and “top tips” that just don’t make up a reasonable structure.
The dry script is utterly humourless except for one reference to chocolate bars and makes for a droning listen. I regularly found myself distracted and unusually, didn’t bother rewinding as I was happy to have undoubtedly avoided some other repeated advice.
