About this listen
A group of wealthy Manhattanites escape to an astrology-themed retreat, where simmering resentments and long-held secrets lead to a shocking death in this fresh, twisty, and suspenseful debut in the vein of Liane Moriarty and Katy Hays.
Margot needs a minute. She’s been working eighty-hour weeks as a newly minted partner at her law firm. She’s disconnected from her brother, the only family she has left. And she’s still not pregnant after years of trying.
Stars Harbor Astrological Retreat promises rest, relaxation, and wisdom for Margot and her friends. With Instagram-worthy views and nightly astrology readings in an impeccably restored waterfront Victorian house, this getaway should be nothing but idyllic fun.
For Margot’s brother, Adam, it’s the perfect opportunity to rekindle the romance that fuels his writing. But his wife, Aimee, hides the darkness of her past with a beautiful social media feed. Their friend, Farah, is a successful doctor who cannot admit that she’s losing control.
Yet no one holds a greater secret than their astrologer host, Rini. She has a plan for all of her guests, and one of them won’t be leaving Stars Harbor alive.

Don't expect much in the way of astrology
I'm not sure why she bothered with the astrology theme, it adds absolutely nothing to the story, which had so many people and such a slow plot that i almost gave up on the book a few times. There were a few errors here and there - Saturn doesn't revolve or orbit around the earth as stated twice, it revolves around the sun. '...my Saturn's return' gives away that the author is new to astrology as it is termed the Saturn return. One guest with sun aries, moon scorpio, gemini ascendant is said to have 'excess dualities'. I've studied astrology for decades and have never heard the term excess dualities, i assume it means she has a lot of planets in mutable signs (gemini, virgo, sagitttarius and pisces) but as you are only told sun moon and rising signs there's no way to understand or verify what she's talking about. Another example is a guest who has leo sun, aries moon and cancer ascendant and his 'special notes' say that he has heavy masculine energy with 'all that air and fire'> What air? Leo and Aries are fire signs but cancer is water so where is all that air? Another confusing thing was when the astrologer tells another guy that 'the conjunction of mars and pluto we're experiencing now hasn't happened in ten years' when mars has a cycle of two years and therefore would have conjuncted pluto (even if pluto has moved on to other degrees) five times including the present time. None of the astrology was of any use, this is my least favourite type of astrological fiction. If you're calling a book The Astrology House at least have some nuggets of wisdom to impart to those who understand little or a trail of breadcrumbs for astrology lovers to use in the unravelling of the plot.
