About this listen

Tina is a good person. Tina has done something bad. But she did the wrong thing for the right reasons, and that makes it a bit less bad - doesn't it?

For six years Tina has served drinks and collected dry-cleaning for a boss who spends more on lunch than Tina does on rent, and her debts are piling up. Then a blip in the expenses system offers her the opportunity to change her life: a big fat cheque that shouldn't have Tina's name on it. And her moral compass temporarily malfunctions.

With wealth comes trouble. It doesn't take long for one of Tina's fellow assistants to notice, and she wants in. But despite their unlimited expense accounts, with two of them playing the system, there is always going to be a limit to their luck.

Zipped along nicely - brilliantly narrated

Really enjoyed this. Thank you to the author. The pace was great and I could relate to working for a Robert character.

The story of the female modern day Robin Hoods

Would you listen to The Assistants again? Why?

No, it was fine once, but I wouldn't listen to it again.

What did you like best about this story?

It was a light, funny read and easy to follow.

Which character – as performed by Jorjeana Marie – was your favourite?

I didn't have a favourite

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

How to pay off your student loan! Not.

Any additional comments?

Although set in Amercia, it follows the tale of that stream of people in society who worked their backsides off to get a degree, got into debt via students loans, and never got a well paying job to pay off the loan before they retire!
Opportunity presents itself in an accidentally fraudulent form to enable a PA to pay off her student loan, and a snowball effect follows.....
