‘One of the best fantasy book series of the past decade’ TIME
The twist of a knife. The birth of a legend.
Step into the world of the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas with this collection of prequel novellas.
Celaena Sardothien is her kingdom’s most feared assassin. Though she works for the powerful Assassin’s Guild and its scheming master, Arobynn Hamel, she yields to no one and trusts only her fellow killer-for-hire, Sam. But when Arobynn dispatches her on missions that take her from remote islands to hostile deserts, Celaena finds herself acting independently of his wishes and questioning her own allegiance.
If she hopes to escape Arobynn’s clutches, Celaena will have to put her faith in her wits and her blade ... knowing that if she fails, she’ll lose not just a chance at freedom but her life.
A prequel to the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass, this collection of five novellas explores the history of this cunning assassin and her enthralling — and deadly — world.
Included in this volume:
The Assassin and the Pirate Lord
The Assassin and the Healer
The Assassin and the Desert
The Assassin and the Underworld

Prequel to throne of glass series
Great set of novellas that take place before the 1st throne of glass book. I would recommend listening to this first as a prequel since it features a few side characters that are important to the later books in the series. Fantastic narrator although there were some random strange accents but then you can tell it’s a different character speaking. Highly recommend.

Great to understand how the connections of friendships are made
I liked this. Not as much as the other books but I loved understanding how people they pop up later on are connected to her and her story.

An excellent start to the series
This collection of interconnected novellas hooked me from the very start, Maas has created a world that is both grim and hopeful with characters that embody the best and worst the world has to offer. Evan's performance is top tier, giving each character their own distinct personality and tone while keeping us engaged and enthralled with her narration. I've already downloaded Celaena's next adventure, can't wait to dive deeper into this series!

A brilliant start to the series
Having done my research I decided it was best to start the 'Throne of Glass' series with this one and I wasn't wrong. A brilliant start that introduces characters I feel sure will reappear in the following stories. It's a real eye opener to learn about Arobynn Hamel (master of the Assassin's Guild) and all he's capable of.... the ending stunned me!!
So if you're just starting out like me I recommend you start here. The narration by Elizabeth Evans like with the Crescent City series is first class. Enjoy....
