Summary

Gangland boss Zander Finn is so sickened by the brutal murder of his son in a Paisley pub, he decides to change his life. Following the advice of his priest and mentor, he moves clandestinely to London and becomes an ambulance driver. But when his old second-in-command, Malky Maloney, tracks him down on a London street, Finn knows he must return. Both his real family and his crime family face an existential threat from Albanian mobsters determined to take control of the Scottish underworld.

Under the watchful eye of his charismatic mother, he must try to look after his lovelorn younger daughter and her older sister, who is pregnant to his old enemy Joe Mannion’s son. His estranged wife, who has more than just a business relationship with Mannion, and his remaining son, crippled while serving in Afghanistan, also require his attention. But most of all, he must take back what is his.

Not enamoured with the narrator

The story line is excellent but I’m really not a fan of how this narrator reads .. could have really done without all the rolling R’s ... I had to increase the speed because I found his delivery a little laborious.

Great yarn

Good humour, good Scottish gangster scraping and a community spirit.. with a twist

not true to life but as close as it comes who wants reality all the time anyway

Recommend if it counts !

Not for the faint-hearted

A little bit of a change for Denzil Meyrick. Tough listen so hard to describe as enjoyable but if you're a Meyrick fan then it's worth giving it a go. Main character is likeable despite his 'occupation'. Plenty of other well-drawn characters and black humour aplenty.

I absolutely loved this book

Another great story from this author. A break from the DCI Daley books but the gripping storylines, three dimensional characters and humour are still there. The narrator is a perfect fit for this book.

First rate

It isn’t often nowadays that I find a book that I cannot put down, or an author whose next book I wait for in eager anticipation, but Denzil Meyrick has renewed my excitement in reading. His latest book, Terms of Restitution, has had me gripped from the first moment. Without revealing the plot, I can say that there are many unexpected revelations and twists that will keep the reader guessing until the last page. I haven’t quite finished it yet;( I’m reluctant to get to the end because then I won’t have the enjoyment of reading it) and I feel there are yet more unexpected revelations to come.
But its not only the plot that makes this book so rewarding. The characters are beautifully drawn, each one has a full personality and has a purpose in the novel. It is through the characters that the humour in the book shines through. I listen to it during car journeys and I find myself laughing aloud at the interactions of the various characters.
I’m enjoying listening to it rather than reading it, as I often skim and scan a text rather than reading every word, but with Denzil Meyrick, every word of his wonderful prose is worth listening to and adds to my enjoyment. The narrator is excellent and keeps the pace of the story going.
I’m looking forward to finishing the book so I can find out whether or not my suspicions about one of the characters is proved correct, but what will I do for reading matter then? My worries are solved. Denzil
Meyrick has a new book released that will keep me entertained a while longer. So here goes…

I thoroughly recommend all of Denzil Meyrick’s books. Some of the best crime writing around.

Great storyline, kept me on the edge of my seat.

Love it from start to finish. Hopefully there is a follow up book. It will be interesting to see where it goes
