About this listen
A teenager in love disappears for no reason. Decades later, a betrayal is uncovered that could wreck the lives of everyone he loved.
Henry Cooksey was 17 when he disappeared. No trace of him was ever found, apart from his treasured scarf, abandoned at a bus stop. When the Bearing women investigate his disappearance, they uncover not only betrayal and deceit, but a secret hidden for almost four decades, which could shatter the lives of the loved ones Henry left behind.

A psychic Mystery
While not my usual reading preference I have read both of the previous Bearing Witness books and enjoyed them. This one follws on but has a new narrator. Would it live up to the standard of it's forerunners? Well, yes it did, very much so.
The ladies have progressed from denying or shunning their gift/curse to embracing it and coming to terms with all it offers and this makes for a more enjoyable story. The characters are well written and realistic and work well together. The mystery has several twists and turns so you never know quite who the villian is until the end.
The new narrator, Perdita Lawson, is a pleasure to listen to and performs the characters perfectly making this an all round excellent audiobook. I'm already looking forward to the next one.

An unusual story
A bit of a gory start. I wasn’t too sure whether I was going to enjoy it but once I had got my head around the different characters and timeline I began to enjoy it. There are various twists and turns and the final chapters brought up something I was not expecting.
Definitely a clever story with a difference.

Just gets better!
I was a little uncertain of this series at first but it has got better and better as it goes on. I really enjoyed this, the third book. The mood of the 3 women has changed and rather than cursing their gift they now embrace it. The change of narrator to Perdita Lawton is a good move I think, nothing against the previous one but as with earlier books Perdita nails it. The book are well written with engaging characters, fast paced with twists and turns in the most unexpected places. Already looking forward to the next in the series from Marcia Turner who is fast becoming a favourite author of mine.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the author and leave this honest review.

The Bearing women do it again
I really like these books. The author is able to tackle difficult issues and still keep the story light and easy to listen to. I like the characters and although I thought the plot was going to be too simple, I found it contained lots of twists and details I wasn’t expecting. This new narrator does a good job and has kept the Women’s characters from previous. Throughly enjoyable and highly recommended.
