About this listen
Tantra Illuminated takes the listener on a fascinating journey to the very heart of original Tantra: its key teachings, foundational lineages, and transformative practices. Since the West's discovery of Tantra 100 years ago, there has been considerable fascination, speculation, and more than a little misinformation about this spiritual movement. Now, for the first time in the English language, Tantra Illuminated presents an accessible introduction to this sacred tradition that began 1,500 years ago in the far north of India. Using translations from primary Sanskrit sources and offering a profound look at spiritual practice, this book reveals Tantra's rich history and powerful teachings.

Certainly recommended!
Fantastic insights shared that shed light on contemporary and ancient concepts, describing the complexities of the transition and at times resistance of cultures and societies to adapt in tandem. Contextualises much, and delivers a sound basis of tantra, dispelling myths and decolonialising misconceptions and understanding.

excellent
clearly spoken and written. having to go through the book multiple times because there's so much in it and the Indian terminology is largely new to me as are some of the concepts or the way they're presented. because of the author's ability to read aloud very well, this is not a chore. there's a peacefulness and gentleness imbued throughout. enjoyable. thank you for this offering, sir.

A definitive overview
I was concerned by the "mouth noise" of the sample audio on the audible website but actually the sample audio is much worse than the majority of the boo - it turned out to be a non-issue.
A great overview that is broad and also quite thorough and has some in depth features too.
Christopher focuses on non-dual shiva-tantra which did leave me with some questions regarding other forms of tantra e,g, tantric buddhism, but I understand the choice to focus on this form of tantra.
As someone who has casually read about tantra and buddhism on and off for a few years this book really cleared up a lot and has really changed my perspective on Indian religion in particular.

Everyone says it's good.
sounds pretty thorough but then I have nothing to compare it to.
seems as though he has some solid references too...so this is probably one of the few accurate western interpretations of the original saiva tantra teachings.
