About this listen
"I'd rather face a dozen lethal assassins any night than deal with something as tricky, convoluted, and fragile as my feelings. But here I am. Gin Blanco, the semi-retired assassin known as the Spider. Hovering outside sexy businessman Owen Grayson's front door like a nervous teenage girl. One thing I like about Owen: he doesnt shy away from my past - or my present. And right now I have a bulls-eye on my forehead.
"Cold-blooded Fire elemental Mab Monroe has hired one of the smartest assassins in the business to trap me. Elektra LaFleur is skilled and efficient, with deadly electrical elemental magic as potent as my own Ice and Stone powers. Which means there's a 50-50 chance one of us won't survive this battle.
"I intend to kill LaFleur - or die trying - because Mab wants the assassin to take out my baby sister, Detective Bria Coolidge, too. The only problem is, Bria has no idea I'm her long-lost sibling... or that I'm the murderer she's been chasing through Ashland for weeks. And what Bria doesn't know just might get us both dead."

Addictive series
I listened to this in one day, even using all my breaks at work to listen to a little bit more. This is the fourth book in the Elemental Assassin series, and things are really starting to heat up. There is a fair amount of repetition/rehashing of previous events and characters to bring people up to speed and this can get slightly distracting if you are listening to them back to back. However, there is plenty of action and lots of plot twists to keep you interested. I loved that we get to meet another assassin, and the developments in Bria and Gins's relationship in this book. There is lots of development of the overall story arc with Mab and we even get more insight into Fletcher Lane. My favourite so far.

Recommended series
Another good chapter in Gins story with a good narrator does have a lot of previous story catch-up but still recommended.

Good story
Too many flashbacks to previous books in the series . Making it a tiny bit repetitive.

Disappointing
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes - although for the first half I was not so sure.
Would you ever listen to anything by Jennifer Estep again?
Definitely - but I need to read reviews for the next book in the series to make sure there has been some improvement regarding the continual repetition of information.
What does Lauren Fortgang bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
She certainly brings some of the humour to the lines that I would not necessarily pick up when reading the hard copy.
Could you see Tangled Threads being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?
Yes - despite this being the weakest of the three. I would have no idea who would be ideal to play the leads but hopefully the casting would not be out of line with the descriptions in the book.
Any additional comments?
this was the weakest of the books so far. The first half of the book really irritated me with the continuing reminders and repetition. I know that I often bemoan the fact that there are no reminders whatsoever in follow up books - but I think that means that it is indeed a fine line. But the second half returned to normal - with a great plot, further development of the main character and a lovely Christmassy ending but...... Would still recommend to those of the normal crew that have read the earlier books.
