Summary
Holly is a frustrated florist whose life doesn't exactly seem to be coming up roses. Fleeing the houseshare from hell, she moves in with Josh, a sexually confused merchant banker; Kate, a high-flying legal eagle with talons to match; and the gorgeous Addison, who spends his days communicating only with his computer and those who worship at the altar of Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
Holly's desperate to have a one-to-one with Addison, but can she drag him away from his monstrously ugly, not to say jealous internet 'girlfriend', Claudia, or will they just continually get their wires crossed?

Didn't enjoy
Not one of Jenny Colgan's better books. Such a shame because I have really enjoyed other books from the same author.

Completely bonkers!
Any additional comments?
I have really enjoyed several other Jenny Colgan books, but this one was quite different from the beginning. I couldn't quite grasp the point of the story, but somehow the main character's pitiful life was quite intriguing. By the end of the story I was quite literally sitting in my car and then at work LOL and getting funny looks!
Overall very enjoyable. Stick with it!

Right up my street
I'm surprised by the bad reviews of this book. Maybe people had too high expectations. I really enjoyed it... I could relate to the main character a lot and we have the same sense of humour, which was a treat. For what essentially comes under the "romance" category, I found it unexpectedly insightful and not typical of the genre. It was pleasingly unpredictable, and I found it quite gripping. No one should be expecting a literary masterpiece of a romance novel but, actually, I thought the style was good and it made me laugh a lot, and if I'd read it when I was younger I could have learnt some useful lessons!
It does show it's age a bit (set in the 90s I think) but that was quite interesting in a way...

Some good moments but not great.
Storyline and characters stereotypical and annoying but there were some interesting and enjoyable moments. Just not one of her best books.

Not the best
An odd story, ok if you can suspend reality and just go with it, not in the same league as some of Jenny Collins other books.

Dreary with poor characterisation
What would have made Talking to Addison better?
A stronger storyline. The writing attempts to be amusing but fails; flat footed. weak story and unconvincing characters. Well read, but that alone could not save it.
What was most disappointing about Jenny Colgan’s story?
Gratuitous swearing, unbelievable characters, weak plot. In fact, no plot, but no strand to the book to keep one on board. I just did not warm to these dreary individuals, or care what happened to them.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
A good attempt at enlivening this book, but it was not enough to make it worth listening to.
Repeating the epilogue was a strange mistake.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment

Not Jenny Colgan's best!
Nothing like her other books. Heroine dislikeable. Sorry Jenny - love your other books.
