Summary

Jill Mansell's best seller Take a Chance on Me takes listeners on an entirely unpredictable romantic journey.... For fans of Carole Matthews and Lucy Diamond.

Cleo Quinn doesn't have a great track record when it comes to men, but now Will's come along she's optimistic. Handsome, attentive and an absolute gentleman when it comes to her questionable cooking skills, he could be her Mr. Right.

Things are definitely looking up for Cleo...apart from one small problem with a rather large ego. Johnny LaVenture, sculptor extraordinaire and her childhood adversary, is back in Channing's Hill and tormenting Cleo as if he'd never been away. But life never goes to plan, does it?

Johnny isn't the only one stirring up trouble, and for Cleo's family and friends all kinds of sparks are starting to fly. If you think you can put the past behind you, think again....

Great story, irritating narrator

I read this book years ago, when it was first published, and enjoyed it very much. Looking for something good to listen to recently when I had some spare Audible credits I thought I’d revisit it. The story is still good and current with well fleshed out characters but I found the narration spoiled it. The female voices were rendered somewhat squeaky and sounded childish which is not the way they came over in the book. Thumbs up for the book and thumbs down for the narration.

Yet another brilliant comedy romance by Jill.

loved the story and characters, although I did find the narrator voice not apt for this type of book.

Terrible narrator

I love Jill Mansell books and enjoy her sense of humour.
However, this one had a predictable story lol me, and the narrator further ruined it.
I hated the baby voices she made and she was shocked when she called the main character “Leo” instead of “Cleo” at one point.

Not as good as her other books.

Jill Mansells books are all cookie cutter cheesy rom-coms. Which I usually love them for, got to love some easy listening.

But, this one is just not as good, just far too many "magical moments" for me.

Rubbish reader! Great story

The story is fab, I read the book a while back and loved it so decided to get the audio book. I listen to audiobooks all the time but I could not get past this reader. It's quite uncomfortable as its like my nan reading to me about sex and relationships! Very awkward performance but the story delivers as always :)

Disappointing and poor narration

I was going to write how infantile and packing any depth this book is. But on reflection I believe a lot comes down to the narration. Many of the characters sound like they’re children and the underlying humour gets lost
