Summary
Inary Monteith’s life is at a crossroads. After a stolen night with her close friend Alex, she's just broken his heart by telling him it was all a terrible mistake. Then she has to rush home from London to the Scottish Highlands when her little sister's illness suddenly worsens – and in returning she must confront the painful memories she has been trying so hard to escape.
Back home, things become more complicated than she could ever have imagined. There's her sister's illness, her hostile brother, a smug ex she never wants to see again and her conflicted feelings about Alex in London and a handsome American she meets in Glen Avich. On top of that, she mysteriously loses her voice but regains a strange gift from her childhood – a sixth sense that runs in her family. And when a voice from the past keeps repeating, 'Take me home', she discovers a mystery that she knows she must unlock to set herself free.
Take Me Home is a beautiful story of love, loss, discovering one’s true abilities and, above all, never forgetting who you really are.

Unrelenting Misery for Too Long
The story is very slow to get anywhere interesting and the first half is just so miserable I nearly aborted listening to it.
I'm afraid the rather thickened Scottish accent also got on my nerves. It was like being strangled by the physical manifestation of an accent! It needed toning down.
I'd not bother with other books by this author based on this book.

Gentle and undemanding
This reminded me of a story in an old fashioned woman's magazine. The story of the family held my attention and some parts were actually quite moving. I could have lived without the supernatural element but it all concluded satisfactorily so no complaints.
Overall this was a pleasant and undemanding listen.

Just the right mix...
Just the right mix of mystery and romance. Had me laughing out loud. I could listen to the narrator over and over. Brilliant

I was driving on my own to the south of FRance when I started to listen to this book. I was impressed by the style of writing and the way the story unfold.

Beautifully written and narrated
I love the Glen Avich series. I've read the books numerous times. They are ghostly without being scary. They make me feel warm and cosy and make me wish I lived in Glen Avich. The narration by Helen McAlpine is perfect, I don't always like it when the they do different voices for each character, if the voice doesn't fit how I imagine them to sound, but Helen got them spot on.

Somewhat uneventful story of a bitter woman
If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
Might be OK for teens, or for someone who likes romantic dross
What could Daniela Sacerdoti have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Made it half the length with twice the content
What didn’t you like about Helen McAlpine’s performance?
Truly awful range of accents, the only one that sounded genuine was the London flatmate
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointed by the lack of plot and the teenage love story, felt no connection to the characters at all
