About this listen
USA Today best-selling author Adriana Locke delivers a “fresh and fun” romance between a grumpy single dad and his beautiful, spunky employee—the one he can’t have.
Chemistry is not love.
That’s what my boss, the grumpy single dad with brilliant green eyes, says, anyway.
I have my V-card. He’s 10 years older than me. I work for him.
Nate Hughes has a million reasons why a relationship between us would never work. Honestly? It’s all a farce.
He can’t deny our connection. His soft smiles, brief touches, and protective behaviors come too easily. And when I need a place to stay? He can’t stop himself from offering me a room—though I’d prefer his bed. After all, there are sparks—delicious, sizzling sparks—when we’re together.
Our forced proximity brings things to a head. Our shared experiences and traumas draw us closer. Our undeniable attraction has us toeing the line between friends and lovers—whether Nate likes it or not.
He’s right—chemistry is not love. But that doesn’t mean that I won’t fall in love with him...even if he can’t love me back.

I enjoyed this book but I think I would have liked it better if I would have listened to books 1-5 first. It took me a minute to get into the books because I wasn’t familiar with the characters. However it was a great story with great characters that have real past issues they had to overcome. The narration was great. I definitely recommend this book/series.

One not to be missed!
Adriana has pulled it out the bag again! This book is amazing and well worth the wait! As usually Kai Konnecott and Win ross are amazing in the audio book. Dont think I've heard to narrators who work so well together. Cannot wait to read more of the Carmichael family!

Adored Sweet💕
I absolutely adored Sweet!! Seriously—Nate is a total DILF (cherries included please) and Ryder is so stinking cute!! The way he ‘mans up’ to Nate is so sweet 😉 and the way he just absolutely loves Paige 💞
Paige & Nate both have had terrible things happen in their pasts and they are at different stages of their lives…but life & fate have decided they need each other. After months of some serious flirting Nate steps up and helps Paige out…
Sweet is sweet, sexy, a little heartbreaking, super swoony & so stinking cute💞 I give it all the pancakes with syrup hearts & a cherry on top 🥵
I love that we get Hollis, the Landrys and a glimpse of the Carmichaels❤️ can’t wait to see what these brothers have in store for us😑
Fave quotes:
He stares me down and waits for me to flinch. Men bigger and meaner than you have tried and failed, kid.—-I love the bond that Paige & Ryder have💓
“Listen to me,” he says, squishing my lips together. He stares into my eyes like we’re about to discuss the end of the world. Maybe we are—the end of our world as we know it. “I’m listening,” I say as clearly as I can. He’s undeterred. “You are the only one of us that’s not scared of anything. You have to be the grown-up and be responsible. Okay?” “Okay.” He leaves his eyes pinned to mine to drive home his point. Like I don’t already understand. I set him on his feet. He straightens his shirt and huffs back to the doorway. “No work today. We’re gonna find Paige,” he says, storming down the hallway. “I’m tired of you being lazy about it.”—-I freaking love this kid🥰
“I always thought I needed to find someone to share my life with. But it was the opposite.” “What do you mean?” I twist my head and kiss the side of her cheek. “I needed to find someone that I couldn’t live without.”—-🥲

Great Story & Narration🎧 Captivating & Heartfelt!
It was great to revisit Adriana Locke’s “Landry” world again with this wonderfully sweet and heartfelt romance. Like the other books in the series, the story stands on its own, characters from earlier books make an appearance and it is like seeing an old friend again. If you haven’t had the pleasure to read or listen to the earlier books, I highly recommend that you do, they are all amazing and each one features different lead characters, characters that are easy to fall in love with. This book is Nate Hughes and Paige Carmichael’s story, Paige works at The Golden Room, a bar owned Nate. They are both attracted to each other, but he has deemed her off limits, but Nate, a single dad, is her employee and he does not want to complicate things. Plus, he is looking for a forever girl and Paige does not believe in forever. When she gets an eviction notice because she trusted her roommate was paying the bills, she asks Nate if she could stay with him. He was reluctant at first because he does not bring people into his son’s life who do not plan to stay, but with a long list of rules, he agreed to let her stay. I adored these two characters and thought they were great together and for each other even before they gave into that chemistry which they could no longer deny themselves of. Each had their own baggage, but Paige’s has really taken a toll on her and the trust of people and relationships. And then there is Ryder, Nate’s son, an adorable scene stealer and wise beyond his years. This beautifully written and beautifully plotted romance novel has the perfect balance of drama, a touch of angst, heartfelt emotions, charming and heartwarming moments, and some hot loving. Adriana Locke, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit their character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Wen Ross played Nate’s role with perfection, Kai Kennicott did the same for Paige’s role, each grasping their character’s emotions completely and had you feeling every single one. Both were great at performing the roles of the secondary characters as well, including the most adorable Ryder. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to, and their performance enhances an already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another fabulous listen.

Loved it!
I love the Landry family and Nate and Page's story is a great addition to the series. Full of love, laughter and characters you can't help but fall for, Sweet is a must read for contemporary romance fans.
Paige works for Nate, and when she needs a place to stay, he offers to let her move in with him and his son. Despite all the reasons Nate has for them not to be together, the heart wants what it wants!! And the level of chemistry they have cannot be denied. This is a heartwarming romance, and I love the journey Paige and Nate go on to get to their HEA. Another fantastic audiobook from one of my favourite authors.
