Summary

A CHILLING NORFOLK BROADS CRIME THRILLER!

A body found hidden at the bottom of an open church grave, a suspect running in a local election, and a political opponent, willing to do whatever it takes to win.

Set within the mysterious beauty of the Norfolk Broads, this fast-paced British detective series is a dark cozy Norfolk murder mystery with a slice of humour and a touch of romance, one that will have you guessing until the very end, when the last shocking twist is finally revealed.

Swanton Morley is a totally addictive gripping crime thriller, the eleventh in a chilling series of serial killer books, ones which will rapidly convert followers of L J Ross, Faith Martin, Joy Ellis, Damien Boyd, J M Dalgliesh, and Elly Griffiths into David Blake devotees.

Brilliant narration as always

Although I enjoyed the story which moved at a pace with lots of humour thrown in; I found the overuse of "I don't suppose" by many of the characters, quite irritating and the tone in general, a little smug. I also found the whodunnit element quite predictable from early on. Nonetheless, Jonathan Keeble always does excellent narration and it was easy listening and fun.

we can all get it wrong

Brilliant this book even shows that Tanner can get it not quite right sometimes. Can't wait for the next book.

Why the sudden bad language?

I've listened to all of this series. Suddenly, D.I Tanner starts effing and blinding!! It doesn't fit with his profile from previous books, and was all a bit unnecessary in my opinion. The story line was good, and Keeble is his usual self, but just not convinced by the character change. I'll think twice before ordering the next one...

Norfolk accent questionable

Reader sounds older than man with a new baby.
Enjoyed the story but as an East Anglian the accents and some geographical clangers spoilt it a bit.

Entertaining

DI Tanner is back from his honeymoon and is catapulted straight into a new case when a body is found in an open grave in Swanton Morley, and another man hands himself in to the police carrying a knife but swearing he didn't kill anyone. Tanner and his team have to work hard to sort out the mystery. The book is well written and entertaining and the characters are realistic and continue to develop with the series.

The book is brilliantly narrated by the wonderful Jonathan Keeble.

Another Excellent Book in this Series ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love the constant dry humour of all of the main characters in this series. Each book is brilliantly written, with a fast moving plot, and lots of breadcrumbs dropped for the Reader, along the way.
Brilliant writing paired with Jonathan Keeble's superb narration, and this series is an absolute winner!!

Great twist at the end

As usual Jonathan Keeble's skillful narration is second to none in this genre bringing characters to life ingeniously. There are plenty of twists and turns in the story but the reason I can't give 5 stars all round is the irritatingly poor 'humour' that the DCI send to use constantly. It really is too much and no one would want to work with him. In this story too, he definitely wouldn't be chosen as the one to lead a bigger department after all the mistakes he makes, so an odd choice of storyline for his character especially!
