About this listen
It's not easy for a young gay artist like Jordan Carson to grow up in Jefferson, Wisconsin, where all anyone seems to care about in middle school and high school are the sports teams. But Jordan was lucky. He met Owen Nelson in the second grade, and they've been BFFs ever since. Owen is a big, beautiful blond and their school's champion wrestler. No one messes with Owen, or with anyone close to him, and he bucks popular opinion by keeping Jordan as his wingman even after Jordan comes out at school.
Their friendship survives, but Jordan's worst enemy may be himself: he can't seem to help the fact that he is head-over-heels in love with a hopeless case - his straight friend, Owen. Owen won't let anything take Jordan's friendship away, but he never counted on Jordan running off to find a life of his own. Owen will have to face the nature of their relationship if he's to win Jordan back.

some slips and omissions but overall excellent
I genuinely liked this audiobook! I think because I’ve read Superhero multiple times before, I was able to catch the few times the narrator misspoke (“moment” instead of “minute”, for example) as well as the one egregious omission of an entire paragraph (well, about two lines) that explained a sudden change in the characters’ state of motion (sitting on the couch to suddenly in bed).
Mr Wright was excellent, though there were times I wish he’d distinguished better between some of the characters. I didn’t think I’d ever give American-accent narration a chance but damn, Tristan Wright, you got me.
Superhero itself is a classic, you don’t need me to praise it until kingdom come.

A goto for re-reads
I loove this book, and have re-read it a few times (a rare honour, as my TBR is huge). It's a coming of age story about self-discovery with 2 friends, one gay, one, 'not'.

4.5 ENJOYABLE STARS!!
This was a short, sweet, Y/A, best friends to lovers, m/m romance. No major angst just a lovely, lovely story told by a delightful narrator.

Short but Enjoyable!
Where does Superhero rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
As much as I enjoyed Superhero, unfortunately it's probably near the bottom! Don't get me wrong, this is an enjoyable story, but not up to the standard of 'The Lion and The Crow', also by Eli Easton
What was one of the most memorable moments of Superhero?
When Owen finally realised what he wanted!
Have you listened to any of Tristan Wright’s other performances? How does this one compare?
This was my first time listening to Tristan. His narration is good, but there were times when there was no differentiation between characters, which detracted somewhat from a generally good performance
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It did make me smile and gave me a 'warm' feeling
Any additional comments?
There was a part, early on in the story where there was an overly long description of the comic strip, which for me was unnecessary and didn't add anything.

All warm and melty reading!
If you could sum up Superhero in three words, what would they be?
Understanding, accepting yourself!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I did it!
Any additional comments?
The journey from child to adult is a memorable one. No matter whether can be a gradual process or one that is very sudden, there is bound to be confusion, complexity and, of course, fun. The topic always triggered in me the most sensitive thread. Isn't it a natural ? When I think in this connection novels, my mind goes to the point that being a gay isn't easy, and growing up is one of the hardest parts about it. Finding your place in the world as a different can be complicated, painful, and frustrating, which is actually true, but but but Eli Easton's stoty make me feel mostly all warm and melty. Yes, there is a tragic painful moment, but it doesn't get in that angsty way of our 'Pin Man and Pencil Boy' romance.

Heartwarming LGBT
A refreshingly concise take on a coming of age story about being in love with a jock, with a will they won't they and very good representations of high school homophobia both overt and subtle. Well worth a listen.
