About this listen
I was only 27 and I already felt like my life was over. Then I fell asleep in statistics class and all hell broke loose.
I've been summoned to a world completely unlike my own. Elves and monster girls roam the streets. Complicating matters, a powerful race of demon called the Vrag have invaded Telos, and somehow I've been put in charge of protecting two princesses from all manner of mayhem.
The old Cal couldn't handle this. But when I stumbled through the dream portal, I became something more.
I'm no longer Cal Newhart, divorced college student and ex-marine. Now I'm the Paladin, a supernatural knight of legend.
It's not going to be easy. But with most of the male population withered away, someone will have to defeat the Vrag and repopulate Telos.
I've got a wild ride ahead of me.

The beginning
This book is the dream of mine. It builds the foundation of the coming story. They have taken the time to lead through the beginnings and to me this makes it easy to fall into the story.
The dual narration was great and well worth it. If I had one gripe it would be the comedy that that Marcus tried to install in the MC.
All in all a great beginning.

Okay, after that ending I need book 2!
MC is a former soldier who is trying to readjust to his life now he is no longer in the service. After having dreams of being a paladin and protecting a princess on the run, he is transported into that reality.
This was my first book from Roland Carlson and I really enjoyed it, Great fantasy world where the plot is established from the get go and each character in the series has the own defined personalities and motivations.
Like is said in the title. I'm looking forward to book 2!

A fine story met down by a terrible narrator
The story is nothing special, but fun, however the male narrator is dreadful. Every single sentence is overacted to the point that pretty much every single climactic moment is ruined as I just wanted to cringe.
It honestly sounds the way a 14 year old would when telling a story and trying to be dramatic.
