About this listen
Cara Snow is newly divorced, stuck working for a jerky boss at a pet boutique, and dreading her soon-to-be-empty nest with only her beloved corgi for company. Worse still, her ex just got engaged. Doesn’t she deserve some romance, too? Or, at least a date for the Fur Ball. She’s always enjoyed the annual pet rescue gala, but this year her ex will be there with his fiancée. Meanwhile, Cara hasn’t met anyone— other than the irresistible dogs at the boutique’s adoption events.
Cara is shocked when her wish to fall for a man as easily as she does for those mutts summons Vincent. His velour track suit, paunchy belly, and tough-guy accent don't exactly fit her childhood image of a fairy godfather. Not exactly on top of his game, he admits to being twenty-five years late. (Her daughter Winnie is convinced he must be there for her!) Vincent does his best and casts a spell "guaranteed" to help Cara find the One. But when she actually starts meeting men, none of them are her type. If only they were as perfect for her as the dogs they adopt. Did her screw-up fairy godfather botch the spell? If so, what will it mean not only for Cara but Vincent as well?

Funny
The humour throughout is great, the storyline was good. The characters were also good. I didn’t get the “ wow this is amazing “ feeling but the humour is great and kept me listening. I do enjoy a bit of snark in my reading/listening material.

Not my usual listen
this is not one of my usual genres i listen to. But I found the work to be very enjoyable. It comes down to a doglover falling in love with strays and their owners the question is which one will stay in he heart. You'll have to listen for yourself to find out.

Fun and entertaining listen
I enjoyed listening to Cara's story. It was entertaining and funny. I found myself laughing at some of the situations that came up and at some of the things that were said. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys comedic romance reads. I liked the narrator as well. She made the book come to life in a great way. I hope to listen to more books she has read and other books by this author as well.

Stray Magic
This is the second book that I've read from the team of Jackie Bouchard and Aisling Gray and definitely my favourite of the two! The story was like a warm hug with likeable characters and lovable dogs. I was apprehensive at first that the fantasy element might override the story but it was perfect; not too subtle but also it in no way overwhelmed the story. The narration was brilliant and really bought the story to life. I'm so pleased I listened to this book and will be looking out for any future releases!
This book was given to me free of charge in exchange for a review.

Unique love story!
I enjoyed this take on a modern fairy tale, with puppies! It was such a cute twist to see Cara fall in love with every rescue at the store and how that helped them find forever homes! Her dating exploits were quite humorous as well! The narration was great and I liked the ending!!

Absurdly funny modern fairy tale!!
This audiobook breaks the usual fairy tale expectations. Care Snow is a divorcee 40 plus year old woman who accidentally summons her fairy godfather, Vincent. He isn't anything like Cinderella'a godmother. Firstly he shows up when Cara was in the shower. Then, he mis-cast the love spell for Cara. And he uses her dog as a fairy steed.
Things get interesting from there. There are old school friends, the ex-husband's new fiance, a horrid boss, a formal ball and plenty of adorable puppies up for adoption. Cara' s journey to love isn't what one expects but the outcome is totally worth it.
I thoroughly enjoyed the absurdity of the story! If Jackie Bouchard's intention was to make the reader laugh, she certainly succeeded.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

What a lovely book!
I really enjoyed listening to this book ... but then it does have dogs and magic in it!
Jackie Bouchard is a new author to me but I will definitely be reading/listening to more of her books. It was heart warming and made me smile. Aisling read it well and made the characters come to life.

Funny & Sweet with a little twist!
If you are looking for a light, funny and romantic twist on a fairy tale, Jackie Bouchard has one for you. Cara, a divorcee, is trying to get her life together. She is looking to change jobs, her daughter is getting ready for college, and she is ready to find a boyfriend. When she meets Vincent, her fairy godfather, things may now begin to look up! But will they? With an ex and his fiance, lots of pups to adopt and their potential masters, and the upcoming ball, Cara has a lot to keep her mind busy. Bouchard has laugh out loud scenes in this book, some really wonderful characters and a lesson on self realization and confidence.
Narrated by Aisling Gray, each character is brought to life with such enthusiasm, it is hard to stop listening! She has great comedic timing and many distinct voices(I really loved Lou!). I will be watching for more by her.
