Four teens may be the only hope of stopping the world's end, beginning with one boy.
Fourteen-year-old Jaime Pappas expects to live the remainder of his life on the chilly Alps of the Air Kingdom. But he doesn't expect the king's men to arrive to his farmstead - or burn his brother for treason.
Forced to run, Jaime's world upends when he discovers a chilling prophecy that will call him to exchange his farmer’s cowl for a crown. Meanwhile, ancient nightmares are returning to the mortal world. Signs abound that the end of times is near. His true enemies might not be who they seem.
Torn between duty and his heart, he will have to decide whether he will learn to bend storms to stop the king...who also happens to be his long-lost father.
Can Jaime rise to liberate his kingdom - even if he must burn with the rest of his family?

Enjoyable from the off!!
I loved the story. It's exciting and fast paced throughout and you're eager to get to the end of it, but once you do, you're left wanting more and so onto the next book!!
It's a story about a Prince who has been in hiding his entire life and all because his father is going to kill him. Why?? Because some priests came to see him and foretold that his downfall will come from the hand of his son!! Cue murder and mayhem!!
The problem is, the Queen has taken her son and fled in order to save his life, but the King is not willing to have This prophecy to come to pass.
But what can be done with both wife and son missing. Well the hunt is now on and once he finds his wife, the Queen has already given her child to someone she trusts and they're both gone and to ensure he never finds their son and who she's given him to, she takes her own life!!
Ok so you'd think he'd leave it at that. However, he's not willing to wait for the year all this comes to pass, ohhh no he's not that stupid, instead he decrees that all boys born of the same year are to be killed!! And every year he sends his soldiers out to hunt for any boys of that age, just to be sure it will never come to pass.
All this happens right from the off and it's a fast paced relentless tale of a boy fighting constantly just to stay alive.
There's angst, loyalties, friendship, treachery, love and hate all the way through and so much more. It's about right and wrong. About growth, power and deceit. What more does anyone want in a book 😂😂
This is the first time I've come across Stewart Crank, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
He's got a great voice and does one of the best imitations of a woman's voice I've ever come across, except in movies!! I loved each of his characters nuances and honestly, Jasmine could not have chosen a better narrator for this book.
So if you want a great read and audio too, you can't go wrong with this!!
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
