In the thickest part of the night, a surging thunderstorm beats down on a Florida cracker home. The rain falls relentlessly, and the sky flashes with blinding brilliance, illuminating swirling leaves, twigs, and dirt. Unseen funnel clouds rotate menacingly, further reducing the almost non-existent visibility and blanketing an evil feeling over the region.
