About this listen
Narcissism and Today's Society
We have intrigued the topics of narcissism for decades, and social scientists now agree that the topic has become a new epidemic. The term narcissism started about 2000 years ago when Ovid wrote the Myth of the Narcissus, which tells the story of Narcissus, a beautiful Greek hunter who one day looks and loves his reflection in a water pool. He has his own appearance obsessed and can not leave his reflection until he dies. The concept of narcissism was first suggested by the famous psychoanalyst. The new concept was popularized by his focus on "the self" and his relation to the outside world. Narcissism could be defined as a tendency to pride or egotistic appreciation for one's own qualities. It was listed by the American Psychiatric Association as a Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD).
