So Good

There are other such examples such as this as well that I find to detract from the overall book. As all avid listeners of the ancients Greeks will know through the study of the stoics, the stoics believe was entirely in what you have control over and that which you do not. It is clearly stated multiple times that many stoics

Happy With It

The tone of the book is also delightful, as the style is very conversational and easy to understand. I am rarely so pleased with a modern publication, but I could not be happier with this one. I keep it by my bed so that I can regularly reference it.

Useful

The book is a useful, practical application of stoicism. It is well organized and enjoyable as author William Irvine comes across as a genial friend, laying out the case for the reader to adopt some philosophy on how to live life and offering a corrected perspective on stoicism as simply one of those philosophies.

I'm Grateful

Still, I am very grateful to this book. It has set me on a new course -- I have started reading the writings of the Greek and Roman Stoics themselves -- which I think will make my life more joyous and less constrained.
