About this listen
Keith Floyd started out in a hotel kitchen in Bristol. He made and lost fortunes, was married four times, and dealt with a level of fame that bemused him. Now, in this revealing memoir, he reflects upon his colourful career. As irrepressible, funny and charming as the man himself, this is a must-read for anyone who loves life, food, women... and a quick slurp.

Warm, funny, honest, engaging and poignant...
Any additional comments?
I'm not normally a big fan of autobiographies...I find them self indulgent tosh usually. I got this in a 2 for 1 deal because I always liked Keith Floyd and though he was a real character...what a treat it is. This is a really engaging read/listen, it is brilliantly read by the narrator who could easily be mistaken for Floydy himself. It's a very honest portrayal of his life (warts and all) and there's no doubt that he could tell a great story - he must have been fantastic company...one moment you are laughing out loud and the next you could cry for the bloke. If only all autobiographies were this good...highly recommended if you liked Keith Floyd.

Heartbreaking but inspirational
Would you consider the audio edition of Stirred but Not Shaken: The Autobiography to be better than the print version?
The narration was excellent and at times sounded like Floyd was 'speaking' to the listener. The narration style was very much the way Floyd spoke and added to the overall experience.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Floyd, obviously, but he paints a clear picture of other individuals who shaped and influenced his life.
What about Gordon Griffin’s performance did you like?
The way he was able to replicate the 'voice' of Floyd. Excellent narration.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was difficult to switch off...
Any additional comments?
I've just finished the Audible version of this book and was totally immersed. I loved Floyd as a TV chef in the 80's. He was articulate, informed, intelligent, irreverent and above all, entertaining. This is a warts and all account. It moved me to tears and laughter in equal measure. He was a man with talent, energy and above all, a heart of gold.Forthright when required, it seems his honesty gained him a reputation for appearing 'difficult'. Well done that man; he was unafraid to say what he believed. His approach to food and cooking was honest and inspirational. His perceived affectations belied a man with real talent for food and taste, without pretension. His financial and personal dealings seem to have been troubled but I have no doubt that he was a good and honest guy. The final chapters were particularly moving. In his mid 60's, having reached a point where major health, personal and financial issues were resolved or positive he was at a composed and peaceful place in his life with much to look forward to. Poignant doesn't begin to describe the heartbreak that the final pages describe...But overall, this was a delightful romp through the life and places which shaped a truly unique individual. The world is poorer after his passing but the legend lives on and I loved this book.

Incredible. What a truly amazing man
I can not explain how much I enjoyed this book. A truly inspiring work of a flawed man trying to make his way in the world. Outstanding. Truly one of the last great English gentlemen. Adore it. And love him just that little bit more now.

The one and only Mr Keith Floyd
I really enjoyed this book. My only regret was that I wasn't able time wise to listen to ok from start to finish in one go. I found the whole book entertaining as I have been a fan of the great Keith Floyd for many years. The book shows how generous Keith was with his money it's just a shame some of the people he gave to just used him for his money
And what a lot of money Keith has had at certain times of his life and then how quickly he spent it.
I would recommend this book to everyone I give It 10 out of 10
And I raise a glass to the great Keith Floyd who has sadly passed away to that great kitchen in the sky
Cheers Keith.

The original TV chef
A fantastic autobiography of the original, and best, TV chef.
I really liked Floyd and his unique way of presenting what he loved, food. This story gives a real insight into the man, warts and all, from his many wives, failed businesses and fragile relationships with his children. There are some very funny moments but some deeply sad ones too, as you would expect.
The book is very well narrated and the 11 plus hours fly past, I recommend it totally to anyone with a love of food and a love of the man, Floydy.

Exactly what you would expect of Floyd
Where does Stirred but Not Shaken: The Autobiography rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Not the greatest book but a wonderful story of a fine bon viveur
What other book might you compare Stirred but Not Shaken: The Autobiography to, and why?
How can one compare an Autobiography? Daft question.
What does Gordon Griffin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
His voice is excellent, not a copy of Floyd but certainly similar and complimentary
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Of course, Floyd's weaknesses were well known but you can laugh at his rudeness and joy in food and life
Any additional comments?
I miss him, he gave my generation great entertainment, laughter and a desire to explore food oneself.
