About this listen

As the war between the Republic and the scattered remnants of the Empire continues, two children, the Jedi twins, will come into their powers in a galaxy on the brink of vast changes and challenges. In this time of turmoil and discovery, an extraordinary new Star Wars saga begins.

While Luke Skywalker takes the first step toward setting up an academy to train a new order of Jedi Knights, Han Solo and Chewbacca are taken prisoner on the planet Kessel and forced to work in the fathomless depths of a spice mine. But when Han and Chewie break away, they flee to a secret Imperial research laboratory surrounded by a cluster of black holes - going from one danger to a far greater one.

On Kessel, Luke picks up the trail of his two friends, only to come face to face with a weapon so awesome it can wipe out an entire solar system. It is a death ship called the Sun Crusher, invented by a reclusive genius and piloted by none other than Han himself.

Fantastic.

This is a fantastic Trilogy that I have read many time and to her it narrated really brings it to life.

It is the start of Luke’s journey building a Jedi Academy, fraught with twists and turns.

Highly recommended.

I first read and listened to this book when I was a child. coming back to it it's lost none of it's fun for me. Have really enjoyed listening to this and will continue with the other books in the trilogy.

heard better

I have noticed a few technical glitches during playback where the programme will freeze for a few seconds then suddenly skip about 30 seconds, bit if you use the skip back 30seconds button it resolves itself. not sure if this is the programme or the app

Great

On a technical note, there are a couple of audio anomaly’s early on - almost like static. Be nice if audible resampled those parts. But if you’re listening, don’t be put off - they clear up and don’t come back.

My First exposure to the Extended Universe

I have always loved the star wars universe, but never read any of the books. Now that I commute a lot more, I said I would try out the novels, and on recommendation from a friend, started with the Jedi Academy trilogy. Unfortunately they are abridged and entirely too short for a commute run (I blitzed through the 3 books in less than a week). It is a shame that they did not record the unabridged versions.

The story, as a trilogy however, is brilliant! I felt the tone and the themes from the movies were spot on and overall really enjoyed them.

I only have one real criticism of the narrator, and that is the way he pronounces Courscant. He does it as: "Kouriskant". With a hard "K" sound in the middle (instead of kɔɹəsɑnt) , which made me cry with anguish every time he said it. Multiple iterations of it in the one sentence is terribly jarring.

But that, and the abridged runtime are all I can give out about. I would recommend.

enjoyable, but some frustrating technical issues.

at certain points the audio becomes garbled by static for no apparent reason.

Good short book

A good short book, ideal for a quick listen. Good storyline but some of voices not good.

Not suitable for “read-along”

I bought the book and the audiobook, to read along while listening. Unfortunately, a lot of the text is missing in this audiobook. The books chapters are way longer than this audiobooks chapters.

What a pity.

Overall not a bad story but ....

Quality of this title is atrocious, forever making screeching sounds, for that reason alone I would avoid
