very character driven, not alot actually happens and it definately feels like a prequel however I still found myself engaged and enjoyed the story. No idea how accurate it is in terms of historical fact of the period but it felt fairly authentic and I wasn't after a history lesson anyway so over all a good gentle read, looking forward to the next one.
