Summary
Lusting after the woman trying to steal my job is stupid. Sexting with her? That’s a game-changing fumble.
Emma Crawford became enemy number one the second she stepped foot on Blue Mountain Farm. She might think I’m just a dumb jock, but I know she’s a stuck-up wine snob who believes she’d be a better exec than me. She can take my position over my dead body.
But with her ridiculous curves and fearless smarts, she’s becoming one giant distraction just when I need to prove my worth most. Lucky for me that I have a secret internet sext partner to blow off steam with. My nightly dirty chats with V scratch all the itches Emma gives me. Emma and V couldn’t be more different - except it turns out they’re the same person.
Just when I thought this scenario was enough of a disaster, I’m falling for the co-worker I can’t touch and can hardly stand. Even a hotshot player like me can see this is a game we’re both gonna lose.
Southern Hotshot is the next STAND-ALONE novel in the all new North Carolina Highlands Series! This is Samuel and Emma's smoking hot enemies-to-lovers story.

I really vibe with this series.
This has a lot going for it. Banter, chemistry off the chain, an alpha male you can totally get behind and a strong heroine who knows her stuff in and out of the wine cellar. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Samuel and Emma kept me hooked and especially the narration. All the food and drink talk kept me hungry. The push and pull was electric and I'm really excited to see what's still to come from this series. I volunteered to listen and review a complimentary copy of this. All opinions are my own.

Samuel and Emma!
Samuel has transitioned from his career as a professional football player to handling the beverages and cuisine at the family owned Blue Mountain Farm. Hiring Emma due to her knowledge of wine was not Samuel’s choice and now that he is forced to work with her, he is beginning to like it even less.
Emma is determined to succeed in her career and at this job as she knows that she has education and experience to ensure it happens. She isn’t about to back from anyone or anything and that includes her new boss so it is only a matter of time before the sparks fly.
Working together Samuel and Emma may think that they know each other but they are about to find out that they don’t really know each other at all. The chemistry between them radiates off the pages and though they had their obstacles they prove that they are the perfect match both personally and professionally. I enjoyed the performance of the narrators as they brought the banter and emotion of the story to the forefront.

Terrific Story & Narration🎧 🔥Samuel💘Emma🔥
Jessica Peterson delivers another great novel in her wonderful for “North Caroline Highlands” series! This book is Emma Crawford and Samuel Beauregard’s story, an enjoyable enemies to lovers romance. It is the second book in the series and can be enjoyed on its own though I do recommend reading or listening to the first book “Southern Seducer” because it is an awesome story and it gives some more in sight on the Beauregard’s Blue Mountain Farm. After a career ending injury Samuel came to work for his family’s business, a farm turned high end resort and inn, he runs the restaurant portion of the inn. His brother has been trying to Emma, a sommelier, to work at his farm, he feels bringing her in would be good for business. Samuel and Emma butt heads right from the start, he is set in the way he runs things. He tries to challenge her but she does back down and gives as good as she gets. It does not take long for him to appreciate who she is and what she has to offer, but things are complicated, work place romance can be a risk, family drama gets in the way and then there is the whole online relationship thing going on, which was super hot. This fast paced story is beautifully plotted with plenty of drama, angst, a surprising twist or two, some heartfelt and emotional moments and a fabulous romance. Jessica Peterson, thank you for another great story and emotional rollercoaster ride, I am looking forward to Hank’s story, I hope he finds what he is looking for and gets his HEA.
🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Jason Clarke and Virginia Rose continue to bring these characters and their story to life. They do an awesome job portraying the characters giving each their own voice and personality. Jason Clarke played the perfect Samuel, sounding just as I pictured him to sound. Virginia Rose’s Emma was perfection as well. Both were great playing the secondary characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all of the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen🎧

Bring on the wine!
What a story! Jessica Peterson does it again, bringing us an incredible enemies to lovers romance. Her amazing cast of characters lets us focus on Samuel and Emma. Emma comes to Blue Mountain Farm as the new sommelier with a fresh look and exciting ideas. Samuel, the Beauregard brother that runs the restaurant doesn't see the need for her expertise. Things are good as they are. But their banter is just foreplay, as each begins to learn and respect the boundaries and the possible ideas. Romance at the workplace is frowned upon though, and as things heat up, life gets complicated. Will these two work it out? Will Emma have to go? What will the brothers think? This is a fun, fast paced listen with an interesting story line. I enjoy Peterson's style and her stories are pure entertainment for me. Emma is a strong willed woman, and with every push she gets, she gives one right back. I love that about her, that even in this man's world, she doesn't step down. Samuel is such the typical man. So many layers, and I love seeing Emma pull each one back. Add in the secondary characters of the family and we have a vintage you can't miss.
Jason Clarke and Virginia Rose are such a great team and I am happy to see them continue this series. Clarke has the perfect twang for Samuel, and his voice just melts my heart. He sounds exactly as I imagine him, and he gives Samuel all the inflections to make his character realistic. Rose is fantastic, and pulls out such a strong woman in Emma. Each battle is easily won by this personality and Rose has her nuances in place to give her every facet of the perfect personality. Love these two and can't wait for more of this series!

Scorching hot and emotional
This book was hotter than a volcano! There weren’t many intimate scenes, but there was so much tension between Emma and Samuel all along that it combusted my headphones.
It was hot, but it had flesh too. Foodies and wine lovers, you’re gonna enjoy this book. And it isn’t just a background. Food and wine induced beautiful scenes that helped shaping the characters and their interactions.
Though the whole premise was an extremely convenient coincidence, it was a believable enemies to lovers story. I could see their relationship evolve bit by bit–like themselves. Characters’ arcs were well defined, and the side characters had a real role in the story–especially Samuel’s brother and Emma’s sister.
As for the narration, it was perfection. The sexy chats were recorded as a duet, which made them even sexier, but the rest of the book is in dual narration. Yet, because both narrators are talented, the various voices, the accent, and the emotions were delivered amazingly well. It added some depth to an already intense story. Scorching hot and emotional, that’s an audiobook you don’t want to miss.

This Hotshot is on fire!!
Jessica Peterson is quickly becoming a go to one click author for me. Her stories are fantastic and her narrator casting is perfection. I was hooked on this story within 5 minutes and could not put it down. I listened to a 10 hour audiobook in 2 days without speeding up the audio. Jason Clarke in all his southern growly grumpiness is amazing as Samuel, and Virginia Rose gave a fierce performance as Emma. I love this enemies to lovers story with a dominant female submissive male power dynamic. This was a hot and emotional story. My only complaint is that I wanted more. Some of the hottest scenes were between the two characters in an internet chat room, and I would have loved to see the power dynamics play out more when the characters were in person together. I highly highly recommend this audiobook as well as all the books in the North Carolina Highlands and Charleston Heat series.
