Summary
I used to think the Reaper was just a myth. Then, I found out where she lives.
When our vampire friend, Nora, reaches out for help, what choice do I have but to try? At least that’s what I tell myself when I open a doorway into an unfamiliar realm—the result being that I reunite Nora with her long-dead vampire lover. Kind of weird, I know, but that’s not the problem.
Instead, it’s that way more than one vampire soul comes along for the ride. Apparently, being dead didn’t mean they weren’t dying to escape from where they were being held. What I can't escape is the feeling that something not very nice is bound to be right behind them.
While I'd love for that to be my biggest headache, it is far from it. Zachary and the Purebloods remain very much still out there, conspiring to bring the Shadow Order down. Their new secret weapon takes the form of Silas, a rogue Veil Witch who, until now, has been kept locked up with his magic bound. Given that he’s regained the power to teleport wherever he pleases while summoning demons (no relation to me, I swear), Cassie may have finally met her match. Given that she's the strongest witch among us, this doesn't bode well. Add to that, vampires and werewolves suddenly start turning up dead. We have no idea why, until we witness the arrival of a new supernatural entity entirely.
And there we were thinking the Reaper was just a myth. Not so, although her mission is way different than anything we could have expected. Now, if we don’t help her see it through, we might have a supernatural war on our hands. The problem being, the same could happen if we do.
