Summary

Everything has a price.

It was supposed to be a simple job for The Ghost, a 300-year-old unkillable mercenary: Interrupt a prisoner transfer and deliver the prisoner to those footing the bill. Jingshen had done jobs like it thousands of times.

But this time, it all goes wrong.

Trust no one.

He was supposed to deliver Zoe, a young woman with a devastating power. But after centuries of doing dirty work for money, he decides it's time to regain his lost humanity. They go on the run, hunted by superpowered mercenaries, and The Ghost will need every shred of his experience to keep Zoe alive and safe from a life of medical experimentation.

fortunate to find a great book

I loved this book. It kind of reminder me of Deadpool, an anti-hero mercenary that thinks he is only doing it for the money but actually he could make for a pretty good super hero and with help from Pony Girl he blows everything up trying to do the right thing. If Deadpool can get his own film then why can't Ghost? Ghost has got the witty banter down pat, the charming suave hero complex, healing powers to keep him alive (which with this author writing his adventure he will definitely need) and a great group of friends, well okay they are more contacts than friends and friends that might turn on him at any moment but that adds to the plot and the intrigue. After the story you are treated to another mini story, where The ghost is first introduced to doing the right thing. Another great action packed standalone adventure in the Just Cause series.
Ghost and three other mercenaries has been hired to do a job together, retrieve a prisoner that is being transferred and collect his money when he hands over the package. Jingshen hasn't been know as the ghost for 300 years and not learnt that things are seldom what they seem. The package turns out to be a young woman with very unusual powers and rival gangs what her for themselves so they can learn her secrets. When is own team turns on him in order to score a bigger pay day the Ghost finds himself on the run and hunted by parahuman mercenaries that will stop at nothing to get what they want, even if it means killing the ghost over and over in the process. Is keeping the package safe worth it when you aren't even a super hero? The ghost is about to do the unthinkable and find out.thing
I like the narrator. She uses her own super powers to make the story entertaining and pack a punch.
