Summary
A daemon is offering me the name of my parents’ killer, for a price.
I’ve spent my life hunting the daemon who killed my parents. I swore long ago to do anything necessary, including summoning the deadly creatures to hunt for clues, even knowing I walked a razor’s edge every time. Any one of them might turn on me and kill me, too.
When Azimuth, a sweet-talking daemon with ice-blue eyes and a voice like butter, shows up dangling the knowledge I seek in return for a high-risk job, I feel compelled to accept his offer. Sure, I’m wary of the helpful daemon, but the prize is too tempting to pass up. So what if my pulse races when he touches me or I can’t stop thinking about how his lips will feel on my skin?
I’m embarrassed that I can't seem to keep myself from dwelling on forbidden fantasies starring Azimuth. Remembering that all daemons are my enemy and that nothing’s going to get in my way helps me. Nothing, including my forbidden attraction to an enemy. An enemy I can’t trust. Won’t trust.
But when the not-so-simple job goes sideways, I’m trapped. Bound to the very creature I despise.
Now I need to decide how much of my body, or my heart, I’m willing to risk for vengeance.

Summoners, daemons and skill building.
First off when I looked at the cover for this book, I was fascinated by Mary's tattoos. There's an extremely interesting story behind those, this whole book had me captivated. The storyline was really unique in an edge of your seat intensity, the fighting scenes were seriously extreme. Then there's those steamy moments, Azimuth and Mary had such an incredibly unique connection. I wished I was her, honestly Azimuth is definitely a character I'd fall for in an instant. I loved all of the characters in this, all with there own little quirky personalities. It introduces this as book 1, so I'm hoping there's more to come. The end of this certainly leaves it open for much more, this was a very enjoyable and exciting book. I think it has so much potential to be a unforgettable series, one that will leave you always wanting more. There's so much about this book to love, I've read almost all of Candice Bundy's books. She has an intriguing way of writing, the way she describes everything in every book is almost like seeing it through the eyes of the characters. This is what drew me to her writing, the narrators did a very good job on this, but in my personal opinion. The female nailed Azimuths description of how he'd sound more accurately, still the male narrator brought enough emotion and his own style to the story.
I received a free code from the author, and I am leaving my honest review of this audiobook voluntarily.

Enjoyable
I enjoyed this book and this world however I did find it a little confusing to begin with. There’s quite an involved backstory that had a lot of ground work in the beginning. A fantastic performance from both narrators helps this book along the way.

Next, please!
Smoke and Daemons is a cleverly written and fantastic start to the Caught Between Worlds series. The storyline is easy to follow, fast-paced, and exciting, with unexpected twists and turns. It kept me thoroughly engrossed. I enjoyed the creative world-building, diverse supernatural elements, and highly appealing and colourful characters.
Excellent dual narration by Marina Barrett and Michael Norman Johnson. They did an outstanding job portraying the characters and bringing the story to life. Smoke and Daemons was definitely an enjoyable and super entertaining paranormal romance, one I'll recommend.

Paranormal Demon Romance
Smoke and Daemons by Candice Bundy is a paranormal demon romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Marina Barrett and Michael Norman Johnson. This is the first book in the Caught Between Worlds series.
This is the first book of Candice's that I have read and it won't be my last. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I liked that this book focused more on the daemon hunting and had the relationship between Meri and Azimuth building along the way.
The book ends on a cliffhanger which wasn't a surprise since it is the first book in the series. I can't wait for the next book to be announced.
Marina and Michael did a great job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like paranormal romances, fantasy romance, or supernatural suspense.
