Thank you Rich and Rox for your raw honesty.
These beautiful people have shared their experiences with the world to help us neurodivergents share our hidden inner worlds with the people we love in the hope that we can truly accept ourselves. I wish neurotypical people would listen to this book so they can have a small window in to the chaos that is a ND brain. I laughed and cried with them. Small talk
I found this book and audible version identical to my own feelings and family situation. I have ADHD and Complex PTSD. Masking for 50 years has been hard. The struggles noted here are so accurate. The emotions and thoughts written down are exact.
She’s incentivises with her raw emotion and practicable advice. Wish I get as lucky this lady in turning her life around.
And the love her support her partner gives is mind blowing. It’s been so meaningful hearing his take and his input. If only people could be more like these two.

Probably the best audiobook I’ve listened to
I cried through most of this.
It felt like listening to myself..
It made me feel so much less alone
And I’ve come out of it with so many things and realisations, and the steps I need to take to learn to accept myself, my ADHD and to have hope that I can still find a way to move forward in life with that acceptance rather than trying to beat the ADHD out of me. I loved it. Thank you so much Richard and Rox.

Intelligent and empathetic approach to reframing the ADHD experience, so grateful to Rox and Rich!
This is a really vital book that I am indebted to Rox and Rich for creating. Their approach is exactly what is needed, they hit the nail on the head. After a lifetime of feeling like an inexplicable failure, the negative self talk is hard wired to the extent that if feels ordinary. Hearing someone I admire articulate the same critical and bullying inner voice that talks to me was hard, it was very close to the bone in its familiarity. How could someone like Rox be so mean to herself? Exactly how I do to myself, my ADHD husband, and my neurodivergent friends do too, you attack yourself harder, and before anyone else can.
Rich’s compassion and way of thinking about Rox’s ADHD is beautiful, it made me well up when he stood up for her against herself, and challenged her self beliefs. I feel validated and inspired, the way this book is written is genius, thank goodness Rox had her change of heart with their first attempt. I can see this approach would be invaluable to PMDD suffers, they need this exactly this kind of self empathy and support, and I feel like I might even be able to write such a book, maybe and turn this experience into something useful and beautiful, as Roxanne and Rich have done here.

The honesty of the book
As someone who just been diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 47, I had pre-ordered this book and when it arrived I managed to get through the first couple of chapters with quite a few tears. But then me being I put the book down and just couldn’t find the right time to pick it up again. Instead I got the audio book to listen too and what can I say, what a fantastic and humbling book this is. Like my recent test (100% on inattentive type) all the chapters of the book resonated with me. What really hit hard is there being Rich to show and model how someone without ADHD can support someone with ADHD. I am hoping my wife will read this as it really is a very good peak under the hood of what it means to be me.

amazing must read
Love that it's narrated by them but what I love most is the sentiment. Recognising and explaining how neurodivergent people may struggle and (perhaps more importantly) how this can so badly impact them and providing ways to live with better self beliefs and understanding.
All people should listen to this but especially those who know someone neurodivergent.
This will be a repetition book for me, listening over and over throughout my life.

More ADHD lightbulb Moments
I've listened to a lot of ADHD books and podcasts since my diagnosis. Chapter 8 really resonated with me, the fact I don't cry, have masked all my feelings and my OH struggles to manage my feelings or perceived laziness and faffing about. Always something new to discover!
