Summary
Out walking with his family in the local park, Jon Spicer’s life is shattered forever. The dog - aggressive and huge - appears from nowhere. At first, Jon assumes the attack was random. Soon, other events force him to think again. With his family under threat, Jon can do only one thing: fight back. The pursuit leads him to a remote Irish village where his family are originally from....

Excellent
What a cracking book! Great storyline with lots of twists and turns. I’m now also a fan of the narrator, storytelling at its best.

Unnecessarily drawn out
The narrator was very good and easy to listen to. Unfortunately the story whilst gripping at times, was too long and drawn out in places.

Tedious
I normally enjoy Chris Simms but I found this tedious and turgid. The story could have been told in half the time and rambled all over the place. Most of the characters are 2 dimensional and unlikable and the central character is boring and self pitying.
I would have returned it but I seem to have returned a great deal of literary dross recently.
