About this listen

When a Russian defector is assassinated in a sleepy English seaside town, Group Fifteen agents John Milton and Michael Pope find themselves in a rush to uncover the culprits and bring them to justice.

Their investigation leads them to Moscow and a confrontation with Directorate S, the agency responsible for seeding Russian sleeper agents around the world. When lies and double crossing mean that no-one is what they seem, the two agents - alone and without backup - struggle to achieve their goals under the most dangerous of circumstances.

Set one week before the opening of The Cleaner, this compulsive thriller turns back the clock to Milton as a barely functioning alcoholic, still tormented by the ghosts of the men and women he has killed in the service of his country. Milton must fight his own demons as well as the Russian assassin sent to eliminate him. Will he be able to complete his mission and escape with his life?

Good cold war type story

Interesting, both from background to earlier books and in itself. A worryingly reminded of Russia's capabilities where fiction and reality can blur.

Brilliant

Brilliant book in a great series. just can't get enough.
This book is a little difficult as in this book some of the characters are already dead in previous books. but that aside its still great.
Add to this the quality of the narrator, and the only conclusion is Brilliant. Thank you.

To produce one success . A multitude "a gift"

Mark Dawson and Tom Wood are my favourite writers and so this review is bound to be biased. Paul Thornley is my favourite narrator. He has an extraordinary talent for phonetics and wonderful voice.

As usual I enjoyed another intriguing mystery.

I really do not know why I enjoyed another of these stories but enjoy everyone more than the one before. The stories are interesting, and narrative is so 4easy
to listen too. Thank you both so much. Carry on the good work. x

I liked the link to true events

I found the background of this story more interesting than most in this series, because of the elements related to the Salisbury poisoning of the former Russian spy.

Sleepers, John Milton, Book 13

I have thoroughly loved the whole series. Part of me is still hoping that there is another one coming, otherwise I’m going to be bored.
