About this listen
It’s January 1941, and the Blitz is devastating England. As America maintains its isolationist position, Churchill knows that Britain is doomed without its powerful ally.
Harry Hopkins, President Roosevelt’s most trusted adviser, is sent to London as his emissary and comes face to face with the prime minister himself and an attractive and determined young female driver who may not be what she seems.

Great story of a momentous time in history
Really enjoyed the book. Face paced and very interesting. The ending was a little signposted but that’s ok, still thoroughly recommended

Wonderful Narration
Such a great story about humanity & dignity amid a larger war. Some personalities I knew, others I didn’t, all were brought to life by William Hope.

The sacrifices people were forced to make during the wars.iI
I liked the way it took me back to my childhood days from eight to fourteen and I remember all the awful things we had to put up with and how fortunate we are nowadays.

Out of my comfort zone!
Not my usual genre but throughly enjoyed this war time story of Roosevelt’s right hand man, Harry Hopkins and his time with Churchill. Narration was superb! Highly recommended.

A very enjoyable listen to a wartime story from a refreshingly different perspective with good characterisation and well read.

BRILLIANT AND REALISTIC TALE.
Characters plausible and accounts of the war, blitz etc historically correct... story well told and pace of plots well done\... relationships realistic without being over romanticized and held my interest all the way through.... just sad no more books by this author!

Churchill, Roosevelt and isolationist USA drama.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
YES. Wonderful realistic fast flowing politics and romance. Vivid realistic content portrayed by top notch narrator.
What other book might you compare Sleep in Peace Tonight to, and why?
To me this book stands on its own without compare. It covers much varied subject matter from most elements of early 1940s life & politics. It is several books under one cover: all of them extremely enjoyable.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
There are so many incidents in so many places that it is difficult to choose one. I just enjoyed them all.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Somewhat sad in places: especially secret work in France and descriptions of blitz.
Any additional comments?
This is a well rounded story about a particular few important years in Anglo American history where personal lives are well melded with the big scene. Cannot recommend author / narrator too highly.
