About this listen
In Sit Down and Shut Up, Brad Warner tackles one of the great works of Zen literature, the Shobogenzo by 13th century Zen master Dogen. Illuminating Dogen's enigmatic teachings in plain language, Warner intertwines sharp philosophical musings on sex, evil, anger, meditation, enlightenment, death, God, sin, and happiness with an exploration of the power and pain of the punk rock ethos. Riffing on his triumphant return to Ohio for a reunion concert of Akron punk bands, Brad uncovers the real heart of Zen, in teachings and stories with a sharp smack of truth.

Great Zen book very well delivered
This is the third Brad Warner book I have read / listened to. If you are interested in Zen, Mindfulness or Buddhism this is profound and insightful but hilarious and witty. If you sit regularly or have just arrived on a cushion give this guy a go, You won't regret it.

Better than the amazing book
Yeah that says it. Really brought the book to life. Just finished it and I'm going to listen to it again. So much amazing content. As close as it gets to explaining the truth of what I am and what I could be ( or I am already, if you know what I mean ). Buy it.

Good, solid, reliable Zen Wisdom.
I like the way Brad brings Dogen's Zen wisdom into the 21st century. I've been studying and practicing Soto Zen for 25 years and as far as I can tell Brad's teaching pure Buddhism. I will read "Don't be a Jerk" next :-)

Meh...
Some nuggets of wisdom, and somewhat entertaining but comes across as a little arrogant and judgemental in a small minded way (he certainly has massive disdain for the sheep so to speak) also some concepts he over-complicates and in my opinion gets wrong. Such as the last garbled bit about living forever, the short answer from Alan Watts is "you can't have an experience of nothing", I have no idea what the mumbo jumbo ending here tried to do except make you feel stupid. Bought this and the first audiobook together otherwise would not have listened to it...
