Summary
A Murderous Past
Father Gian Sabbatini is a priest who can’t outrun his sins, but he tries to avoid his family and their mob ties. He does all the good he can for the people of St. Loren, Louisiana, to make up for the criminal life he once led. Gian’s family loves to remind him that no matter how many people he helps, there is still blood on his hands, and on the money in the church coffers.
An Angel Who Needs a Rescue
Phoenix Crawford doesn’t know who he is anymore. Due to seven years of daily abuse, he only lives in the moment to focus on staying safe. After a fight with his partner, Phoenix is left homeless and has no idea how he will survive with no money and nowhere to go. Luckily he stumbles up the steps to St. Michael’s, and Gian offers to take him in after learning of his predicament.
Healing Devotion
Phoenix loves his new life and opens up to Gian, despite the mental health issues he is dealing with, and it doesn’t take long for Gian to consider leaving the priesthood because Phoenix makes him want a relationship. Kind and quietly helpful, Phoenix goes about his days assisting Gian at the church in between rebuilding his life. But Gian’s family catches up with him—the mob never lets a man go. As Phoenix delves into his repressed memories he needs more help than ever, but is Gian up to the task of keeping Phoenix safe? And what if the person Phoenix needs to be saved from is Gian?
Phoenix starts out in a bad relationship that leaves him in mental tatters, but he gets the support and love he needs from Gian. Against all odds, they have a happily ever after!

Forgive me Daddy for I've been naughty!
I was hooked from the very start! The way Phoenix was treated got me right in the emotions! He was like a lost puppy. He just wanted to please and he was treated so poorly and he misguidedly thought it was his fault!
So glad he found Gian. I was a little sceptical at first with Gian being a Priest, but I can't resist a big, rough protective Daddy (swoon). Plus Gian ticked a few other boxes too 😉, Mafia men am I right (double swoon)!
I loved this book so much, definitely an instant favourite. Do have to give a shout out to Conan Kenndey for a fantastic job, you sir were a pleasure to listen to ❤. Hope to hear more from you in the future.

Adorable
Phoenix is the best baby boy ever, I just want to wrap him up in cotton wool and keep him safe from everything that could hurt him. The abuse at the beginning is rough to get through but it's really a pleasure to watch the sweet boy grow in confidence and heal somewhat with the at first somewhat reluctant care of Father John. Fierce Phoenix at the end is my absolute favourite.
It's interesting to get to know a new location (St Loren instead of New Gothenburg or New York) and we meet a lot of characters I can see potential for getting their own stories.
Very well narrated by Conan Kennedy who makes each character distinct and easily recognisable as well as getting across the emotion in the text.

Phoenix and Gian
Phoenix has been mistreated by his supposedly Dom, and kicked out after 7 yrs, he makes his way to a Church, where he rests from the storm, and meets Father Gian. Gian helps Pheonix, and attraction blooms, even when Gian is not looking for it. Brilliantly written. Conan hit the narration out of the Ballpark.

Naughty and captivating
I was totally drawn in by Phoenix and Father Gian and their unique story! this is a great opener to the Sabbitini family and all the extended characters. I can't wait to see what Ki and Meg can create with these dynamic and dangerous men!! I found Father Gian's priestly status and values a bit hippocratical to the "faith" and reality but understand the need for the story and the family business.
Another fantastic story with a bunch of delish and dubious mobsters...can't wait to see what happens next!!!

Loved it!
Phoenix is abused for years and then left on the doorstep with nothing but the clothes on his back. In his distress, he flees to the nearest church, where Father Gian finds him and takes care of him. Phoenix is scared, innocent and absolutely sweet.
What has happened to Phoenix is heartbreaking in itself. He trusted a wrong man too quickly and now he needs to slowly find the confidence to take control of his own life again. Father Gian is just the man to do it, even if he has his own battles to fight with his criminal family.
The storyline was different than I expected and I loved it. I was quickly captivated by Gian and Phoenik's storyline and I liked Gian's protective nature towards Phoenix. Of course there are some gray areas in this story, but that worked well for me and I was very entertained. I'm already looking forward to more stories of Sabatini family members, not all of whom were likable in this book, but that makes it all the more interesting.
Conan Kennedy did a great job. I liked his sympathetic and pleasant voice that he used to bring the story to life. He was a pleasure to listen to! It was not my first audiobook by Conan and I will be on the lookout for more audiobooks by him.

This was outstanding
I loved the story about Gian and Phoenix. It was such a great storyline with a different spin on a mob romance. The narration was really really good.
