About this listen
Governments around the world continue to dominate their citizens. Only Silver City stands as a beacon for freedom. But for how long?
Jacob Roth fills his late brother’s shoes as the CEO of Roth Holdings, North America. His first goal is to eliminate Silver City, the only place on Earth free of taxes and central banker cryptocurrencies. But the Silver City militia won’t go down without a fight. As the pressure mounts, Jacob’s marriage is fraying at the seams. With newfound wealth and power and a separation from his wife, Jacob has an unusual affair.
Derek rebuilds his life in Silver City, the only safe place for enemies of the state. He works at Freetown Orchard and joins the local militia. He finds love with another man’s wife. Not just any man but the wealthiest man in the world, the CEO of Thorium Unlimited, Truman Bradshaw. Derek’s unaware of the potential danger until it’s too late.
Summer returns to Silver City with her father and infant son. While working at the hospital, she meets and befriends Truman’s wife Kyra. Summer soon learns of their dangerous marital discord. In an effort to avoid the impending war in Silver City and the long arm of Truman and his men, Summer and Kyra hide out in Costa Rica. But are they really safe?
Naomi continues her quest for the democratic nomination, battling the front runner Corrinne Powers. To win, Naomi will have to sell her soul to the men responsible for killing her husband. Can she accomplish the impossible? A presidency beholden only to the American people. Or, will she become another bought-and-paid-for president?

Interesting near future story
This series certainly raises lots of points to get the listener thinking, in this episode the central characters, Derek and Summer, move into the 'free' colony of Silver City where they live a simple life without government or taxes, but not everything is as idyllic as it first appears and Summer locks horns with the richest man in the world.
The best thing about this series of audiobooks is the narration, having two narrators, one female and one male really brings the story to life, I wish all audiobooks were as professionally narrated as these.
Regardless of whether you agree with some of the political views expressed by the characters, and they are very widely different views, I still think that the story is very powerful and I found that I was constantly wondering, what's going to happen next, and what else could go wrong. This is helped by the characters being very believable and 'normal'.
As I have said in my reviews of the earlier episodes, I would award five stars, but I don't like series, I prefer each book to be self contained, these books need to be read/listened to in order or they just don't make sense, and there is no 'story so far' introduction to each episode. But that is my personal preference, others may not mind this structure.

Complex, Tense & Frighteningly Plausible.
Phil M. Williams gives us another peek at the future with this book. What I find most disturbing about this book, as well as the entire series, is it’s plausibility. Things are extreme in Williams’ 2050’s America but they’re also frighteningly believable. We are shown what lengths the ‘elite’ money men will go to to keep their boot on those who seek to be truly free. This is a complex novel featuring many characters in many different situations. The tension builds and builds with confrontation never too far away. A well written novel with an eye on the ‘haves’ and ‘have-nots’ and the power that can be wielded.
Once again the narration team of Tristan and Sarah Grace Wright do a great job bringing Phil M. Williams’ characters to life. The dividing of male and female characters give the book an almost radio play feel. Great job.
