Summary
If you’re ready to read, speak, and sound like a Japanese local, then brace yourself for a fun, engaging, and informative way to learn the Japanese language fast and easy!
Short Stories for Japanese Learners: You Can Read Japanese Level 2, The Red Candle offers fun and engaging beginner-friendly stories to help you easily read Kanji and more!
Japanese language learners often struggle with reading Japanese on a native level because most books in the market provide very formal options that don’t really get into the heart of what a local speaker should sound or speak like.
But that’s all about to change!
In this comprehensive guide, you will:
- Enjoy 10 Japanese short stories in different genres: Every story has English translations to help learners enjoy and immerse themselves without struggling with vocabulary and grammar
- Get a complete vocabulary set: From questions to answers and their translations, every story is laid out to maximize your learning and enrich your experience—unlike all the other books in the market
- Understand and appreciate Japanese culture better: With stories in casual settings and dialogues, you will get an immersive and informative experience without burning yourself out
- Leverage Japanese vocabulary the right way: All Kanji and Katakana have "furigana" so that you can focus on the story, while words on the vocabulary list come with "romaji" so you can practice proper pronunciation
And so much more!

Grow your vocabulary
My Japanese knowledge is very shy from being native-level. In fact, before this book I only knew travel-related vocabulary (which is the reason I started learning in the first place). Now I feel like I have grown in proficiency. I loved that the accompanying book has illustrations that make it easier to understand. I also love that the PDF is available because you need to know to write what you are saying.

Great Introduction To The Language
This book does a great job of teaching the basics of learning the language which is already a difficult process for many. I like how the stories help reinforce learning.

Excellent for Japanese learners
These short stories (all less than 5 minutes in length) are excellent practice for Japanese learners (maybe advance beginner level). The story is read very slowly and clearly, followed by a vocabulary list of key words, some questions, and then the story is repeated line-by-line with English translation. The stories are cute and fun, and it was really good listening practice.

This was great
Learning languages can be tough. This has made learning and understanding Japanese so much easier. I really like that the learning was with stories which help understand how to use sentence structure correclty. Not to mention the stories themselves were great!
